3rd Scan and worried.........update

I am about 6 1/2 weeks. I just had my 3rd scan. Last week we had the yolk sac and now we have a fetal pole measuring 5mm but no heartbeat.

My doctor is very happy and said everything is progressing nicely. Now i have to wait another very long agonising week for a scan.

I am freaking out here. I really thought there should be a HB at 5mm? Should I be worried? What do you think?

I went to a scan with my friend when she was pregnant several years ago and the person doing the scan saw a sac but no heartbeat, everything progressed fine and her son is now three years old... if your doctor is happy then that is also very positive!

Was the scan abdominal or transvaginal??? If it was only abdominal there potentially was a heartbeat but it might not have been visable, whereas with a transvaginal it might have been xxx

yes, it is POSSIBLE see a heartbeat at that size just like you can SOMETIMES see it earlier. these things are pretty variable so if the medic is happy then take comfort in that and fingers crossed that the next scan will be more co-operative! The measurements are an approximation especially at that tiny size so you might not be quite as far along as you thought and the fetal pole might not be quite as big as 5mm.
It's so hard to do but try and stay positive, only time will tell.

I had a mmc last week and they say they expect to see a heartbeat when baby measuring 6mm and over...
So yours may just not have shown up xx

i had a scan at 6+3, no heartbeat seen then either, my uterus was just higher than expected too. (was transvaginally too)
had to wait 2 weeks, terrifying time as i got more nervous and scared as days passed by, but at 8+4 we had a little bean with a good strong hb (we heard it then as well).
so no worries!!!

Some folks don't see it till after 7 weeks - don't give up hope just yet

When I went for my first appointment this pregnancy, it was b/c I was bleeding. My doctor did an ultrasound, and told me not to be concerned if there wasn't a heartbeat yet (it was at 6weeks). So I'd say if your doctor is positive to try to not worry (yeah, I know easier said than done, I'm still worried about my pregnancy and I'm a little over 17 weeks). When do you go back for a rescan?

UPDATE:
Went for my scan yesterday fetal pole still measuring 5mm no hb. I knew it was going to be bad news, devastated yet gain. It just doesnt get any easier.

i had a 5 week 3 day scan which according to my dating scan was actually 5 weeks 5 days and saw no hb but now all is fine xx
