How often does your 4.5 month old nurse? Mine was on a schedule of about every 3 hours during the day (for a little while) but now he's back down to every 1.5 - 2 hours. Just wondering if this is normal... I thought maybe I wasn't producing enough milk for him? But he is gaining weight and he's following the curve perfectly (around the 55th percentile).

I don't mind really, I love spending all this time cuddling him and I know it won't last forever. But it does make it really hard to get anything done and leaving the house requires a lot of planning ahead.

Basically I'm just wondering if this is normal?

I have the opposite problem, my 4 month old refuses to nurse more than every 4 hours during the day, but then is up every 2-3 hrs at night to nurse. She is small, 15th percentile for weight, so it stresses me out that I can't get her to nurse more. During the day I can hear her tummy growling, and then when she does decide to nurse she will nurse only long enough for the hunger pains to go away then she wants no more boob.

How come leaving the house requires a lot of planning ahead? Can't you just feed him on demand when you are out and about? My LO eats even worse when we are out because she is easily distracted, but that usually means that when we get home she will have a decent feed which makes me happy.

It could be a growth spurt (this is the point at which a lot of people assume baby isn't getting enough milk and start offering solids) or it could be that he's going through a snacking period. If he's getting distracted on the boob and coming off before he's done he'll want the next feed sooner.
