Hi All,

Found out during the week that im 4 - 5 week’s pregnant. For the last 3 days i have had a niggling pain in my right side. It comes and goes and isn’t extremely painful. Its like a throbbing pain. It sometimes goes to the other side too. I have a little bit of back pain but nothing major.
I have no spotting or bleeding. Breasts are sore. I was constipated for the last couple of days but that seems to be coming good now. I am weeing ALOT.

Is all of this normal?

Im just freaking out as this is my first pregnancy and we want this baby so much. I have had a friend have an ectopic pregnancy and a few friends have miscarriage so im really scared.

I hope i don’t sound like a nutter!!!!

I am 4 weeks and 3 days today and I went in for a consultation with the nurse practitioner this morning. I have been having almost like a cramping feeling in I believe where my ovaries are. It will start on one side and then it will move to the other side. She told me that is completely normal and I should expect that. I have also had a pulling type sensation (only a couple times) around my belly button, and cramps in my back and sides(I felt like I was falling apart) :haha:, those are also all normal. I am not sure if you have felt this but if you stretch in bed and roll over and you feel a sharp pull that is okay also. lol. I was so worried about that after it happened last night. I am so nervous about my bean being ectopic also, but unless you have horrible pains or you just don't feel right, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Your body will tell you if something is wrong.

Thanks so much for sharing your consultation!!! I have that sharp pull you are referring to... And for me it DOES happen when you stretch in bed and roll over. So crazy! It also happens through the day at odd times. Thanks for this reassuring thread, ladies!!

I had that same sensation in my ovaries (mainly the right one) around the same time (4-5 weeks), and all is well. The baby is in the right place. I think it's normal! Good luck!

I have also been having back and side pains ... No ovary pains... Dull achy craziness and IB but thats it...

Thank you so much for everyone who has replied. It has made me feel a bit better. So hard as by not telling anyone yet i dont know who else to get advise from.

Does anyone know if its possible to call the hosp and speak to someone there if i have concerns? I havn been to the hospital yet, only to the doc. And i cant just call the doc to ask questions.

Jacquimonsta, where are you - in the US or UK?

In the UK you should be able to call up NHS direct and get some advice (they usually give you a call back), or call up your midwife. No idea how it works in the US, but if you call the hospital, if they can't help they will probably tell you who can?

Try not to worry too much. It sounds as though lots of ladies have pains during pregnancy, so it might just be normal for you!

xx

I had this pain and it freaked me out but then I found an old thread that said it might be to do with corpus luteum - the thing that releases hormones from your ovary till 12 weeks when the placenta takes over.

That is exactly what it is. I was having the pain and they did a scan to make sure everything was okay, turns out I have corpus luteum (a normal cyst that happens when you ovulate) on both of my ovaries.

I sure you could call the hospital. Girl, do whatever it takes to make yourself feel better!! Good luck and I am sure everything will turn out fine! :hugs:

The more I see posts about this, the more at ease I am! I've been having the same thing. I've read that it is completely normal.

hey dear. i"m 5 weeks and my EDD is 28 September 2012. iv been having the same kind of pain on and off. This is my second pregnancy and from what iv read, the pain is caused by the uterus growing. As long as there is no bleeding then its normal. As of right now i have no pain at all and morning sickness has not set in yet. By Faith you will have a safe 9 months....
