My daughter just turned 4 months today. For the last few weeks it seems as if her sleep is starting to regress. I know there is the '4 month sleep regression' but it's been a few weeks now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Some nights she will sleep 4-5 hours straight but most nights she's up every hour needing to be rocked or nursed back to sleep.

When does this get better? We had just started to get a nice routine going for her bedtime and it seems to be getting messed up with this sleep issue.

She also used to sleep really well laying next to me in bed, but now she flails around and wakes herself up. I don't know what to do!

Hang in there! I think this is normal. Just when you feel like you're getting into a routine, everything will change! I think when babies start to become more aware of the world, the more they want to stay awake and look around because they don't want to miss anything! Is it dark in her room? You could also try white noise or some kind of soothing sound machine if you don't already. She could also be teething? Could also be a growth spurt where she needs to eat again in the middle of the night. Just keep reminding yourself that it won't be forever! I know that's hard, I'm definitely dealing with some major sleep deprivation and I just started back at work this week from maternity leave so I feel your pain!

I'm at the same point as you. My DD will only do one sleep cycle before waking up day or night. I have tried doing shush pat to get her to sleep in her crib at her bedtime but I'm up and downstairs like a yoyo. She then 'sleeps' with me at night but the last four nights she has woken every 45-60 mins where she flails around. I used to just stick the boob in but this isn't even working now. I have been up since 450am this morning and I can't nap when baby naps as have a non napping Duracell toddler. I know it can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months or when some sort of sleep training is introduced. I'm hoping it's the former!

Thanks for your responses ladies. We do have a routine for her. Bath, bottle, then bed. Lights are all off and she has white noise going. But no matter how tired she is she will ALWAYS wake up after her first hour of sleep. Like I said, she used to to go 4 hours at a time but now it's back to always waking up.

I don't really want to introduce sleep training to her yet. I definitely don't think she's ready for it right now lol. I've tried to get her to sleep in her pack n play instead of her swing at night and it's been going okay. I'm hoping this phase will be over soon and she will get back to sleeping like before. I miss my long stretches of sleep!
