Thankyou for your support girls!

i have always been a worrier, i hope this cures it being pregnant and all lol.

well i rang up doctors again today to try and book an appointment with the midwife, they arranged for me to go on the 12th Aug (i'll be about 9 weeks then), so i said that was ok but then realised i was still away on holiday as i go away for 2 weeks on the 1st aug, anyway i asked if i could have it earlier and the receptionist at the doctors was well funny with me, as she said 7 weeks pregnant was a bit early to meet the midwife! but i'd rather meet them early than too late once i am back and would be 10 weeks before they could fit me in for an appointment, what do you ladies think!? when did you have your forst antenatal appointment??

Hormones are all over the place today x

I was 13 weeks for my first midwives appointment hun, I think it is quite normal to have it towards the end of first tri - but they don't mind if you call them with any questions :)

I was 6 weeks when I first saw the midwife - when I went to see the doctor she just told me to make an appointment, didn't say when so I just took the first one available.

The whole point of the booking appointment is to meet the midwife and for her to get all of your details and start arranging appointments like your first scan, as well as getting you signed up for your medical exemption card. It doesn't really matter if you aren't very far gone. In fact I think it's better to have it early so you have a point of contact xx

Thank you Betty - pregnancy makes you feel like you cant do nothing right, well it does to me at the moment and of course everything is my partners fault haha, buy has he got alot to put up with me for the next 8 months!
I too thought it would be better to have one earlier, they reckon they dont normally book until later as miscarriage is more common before 8 weeks ( i personally think thats a really negative attitude towards pregnant women)!

xx

I think 8-10 weeks is the norm for booking appointments but I'm glad I had mine early. I'd had some implantation bleeding - I didn't know that's what it was at the time - and speaking to the midwife put my mind at rest.

I had my first appointment at 9, almost 10 weeks. I remember being slightly offended by the first receptionist I spoke to on the phone who said "this is the appointment where we check if you are pregnant" to which I said, "well I'm about 8 weeks pregnant and have taken 6 or so home tests so I'm sure". She then said "and of course, determine if you'll be keeping it".

Uhm.

You have an excited first-time mother booking her first appointment and you suggest that I not keep my baby?? So glad the next receptionist was nice.

I am glad i am seeing midwife sooner rather than later to put my mind at rest about stuff, as even tho i have done 5 home pregnancy tests i still dont believe i am pregnant as i have no symptoms as such yet, just tired and hungry and every hormonal, no morning sickness yet and boobs are ok too, xx

But they are all classic signs of pregnancy hun. I never really suffered with my boobs at all during my pregnancy.

I didn't have sore boob's or sickness with my last pregnancy. My first I was in agony with my boobs and very sick. Symptoms vary from pregnancy to pregnancy.

I won't see a MW at 6 weeks, but with the IVF I will have beta's and early scans, to check all is well and for ectopics again. Fun fun fun.

Sorry for your loss mumanddad.
