Its interesting to see how many people know someone that has gone through pubery/menopause very early. It must be more common than I thought? x

8/9 is quite common for a girl to start puberty unfortunately. And I think only one person knew anyone who started much too early (I only saw a documentary on it). Early menopause I also believe is scarily common, but by early I mean 30's/40's. Extreme cases are still pretty rare I think...I hope!

One of my friends from primary school had her period at 7, and she had regular periods and pubic hair and boobs. I on the other hand had my period at late 17, and always was very small / child like. I grew taller during the summer after high school graduation. We come in all shapes and sizes, nothing surprises me.

I guess nowadays the HV or school nurse would pick up on the early puberty, and ??able to get treatment for the child. Or maybe the rapist would just be more careful due to the availability of DNA testing and getting caught.

Unfortunately the one thing that probably hasn't changed is the number of children getting sexually abused.

It's more common than you'd like to think about for children to be sexually abused in poor communities like this. Especially way back then.

What I wonder at is how many other children have conceived and died as a result? The ones who never made it to a doctor. I don't think the pregnancy is so unusual (certainly the age it happened, but generally pregnancy under the age of 12), but the fact that it was documented is unusual. As well as it resulting in a 'live birth'.

What "IS" is that someone had sex with a child, who has not got the maturity or physcal parameters to have a baby or to have sexual intercourse.

Forgetting, the moral and legal implications, which is also an issue

when i was younger there was a girl who had twins at 8, she started her periods at 6.

I didn't say it was?

I was pointing out that as distasteful as it is, in certain communities it was commonplace. And in the slums of Peru it was and still is. I doubt the ones doing it would even think of it as abuse.

Read about this some years ago and I do believe it's true. All that's needed is for the body to have reached puberty.
But sad nonetheless.
