Started trying Feb 2009, first ever pregnancy now 6 weeks, LMP was mid-Feb 2014.
I had every test under the sun. My hormones are normal, thyroid normal, I had a clear HSG, tried Clomid without luck, and had a Laparoscopy, all in 2010, they found Endo (though not on my reproductive organs, it was growing on my bladder and elsewhere - and they removed it), had an intrauterine biopsy in 2011 to see if something was wrong with my lining since I constantly had spotting, every 2 weeks, for 2 weeks straight (was losing my mind), saw several specialists, nada, no answers, they all just pushed IUI and IVF.
The most recent specialist I saw mentioned one thing common with Endo is inflammation. She mentioned that in passing while she encouraged me to try ART. After I left her office last October I went on an anti-inflammatory diet, that same month my bleeding problems improved dramatically, I kept it up and got pregnant on my 3rd cycle after that. 5 years and all along the food I was eating had been acting as birth control. I cut out all packaged foods. I am allergic to one of the preservatives manufacturers use (my mouth actually blistered in response to me eating a fruit bar, and I'm not allergic to the fruit that was supposed to be in it, the allergist said not all preservatives in food are required to be listed on the package - I brought the wrapper to my appt - and so I had no way of knowing what preservative it is)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with IVF, it's wonderful and amazing and has helped so many people, I just couldn't shake the feeling it wouldn't work for me, since I was convinced (due to my bleeding problem) that implantation was my issue, and IVF still relies on successful implantation to work. I was still planning to give it a go but only once I reached the age of 35, as a last attempt before giving up completely.
I'm still in shock, keenly aware it's early and something can go wrong, and not really quite believing it yet. I found out 3 days ago, and today I'm 6+3 by dates.
