50 Shades of Grey

There are a few threads about this around but I'll write what I wrote.

For me, it isn't the raunchy side of the book, it is him. He hasn't had an easy life and it shows, the passion, the love, the intense strain, the way he is with her, the way he talks to her, all those things make the book what it is. Yes they have sex, a lot, more than a lot lol but I find myself more drawn to him than the raunchy side.

It's a great book, I read all three in three days. I so wished I had slowed down because now I want to read them all over again.

Book 1 is exciting, new and it draws you in once your past the first few chapters, then book 2 is when things start to come more real and book 3 is incredible.

WSS^

I have just finishd the 3rd its only taken me 3 days to read the whole series. They are definiatly the best books ive read in a while and i feel lost now ive finished them already i wish the books went on forever (though i would never get any housework done lol). So definiatly a good read. I know loads of people who dont normally read who have gone and bought the first book juat for the sex in it and dont really care about the story. Yes its got a lot of sex but the story as a whole is what makes this series so good x

If you like FSoG then read Bared To You. It's pretty much the same only they have both been abused, she is more forthcoming than him and tells him because he is rich and famous but he's more withdrawn. It's a harder read compared to FSoG because there are more shocking things in there and it isn't solely based on BDSM, whereas FSoG starts with his contract pretty much straightaway BTY isn't like that, he doesn't make her sign an NDA or have a contract. It's raunchy dont get me wrong and I am still a bigger fan of FSoG but I can't wait for deeper in you to come out. :)

Thanks i will look into that one i normally read YA books but now ive read fsog im not really that interested in them at the mo lol x

FSoG wouldn't normally be a book I'd have picked and I read it to see what all the hype was and I was hooked! Lol.

I dont get why people keep compairing it to twilight ....I just dont see the similaraties:shrug:.... Thats one of the reasons I started reading it ...thought it might have something to do with vampires ....:haha: .... Im glad it didnt !!Maybe they mean that Christian Grey is soooooooo Compelling...you just have to give in ....without him being any kinda supernatural being....

Im kinda upset today ...I've been reading that Ian Somerhalder might not be getting the role o Christian after all ?? Noooooooo  ..... I think we will find out who will play in the movie next week ....

:haha: I think it's just because it's as big as twilight now, same as when they compare Twilight to The Hunger Games lol like yes where the hell are the similarities.

Also people get confused because FSG started as a twilight fanfic called The Master of The Universe. The only difference between the 2 being the names.

From what i've heard Ryan Gosling is favourite to play. He's nice but not sure. Either way i'm not sure how the film will pan out, I think it will be good but not a brilliant adaptation of the book, how can they show all that sex? :haha:

xxx
I loved Ryan Gosling at notebook but I just cant picture him as Christian ...I dont know ...:nope: When I started reading the books Ian just poped in my head as Christian and well....I... just "cant shake him" ....:haha: ...:winkwink:
Does anyone know when they will announce the cast of 50 shades ??

So far I can't picture anyone as Christian. There's nothing there when I read about him.

Who do you girls think would make a good Ana?

I would also like to share this with you all :) and just to warn you it does contain spoilers so if you don't want to know much don't watch it. It's rather funny though.

They are addictive to read but I'm gonna go against the grain and say they are TERRIBLY written.

Worth a read, but the sex became boring half way through, I was actually flicking the pages past it cos I couldn't be bothered with how repetitive it was!

Exactly this

Yeah same, Ryan to me is more romantic lol. I met Ian the other weekend and although he's not much like Damon in TVD, I can only see him as him. I'll never decide on a Christian. Alot of people have said Matt Bomer, he's hot but still  Hope it's soon they announce though lol xx

I think Alexis Bledel would be a good Ana. x

also i watched twilight the other night for the first time and straight away it reminded me of 50 shades but then i was told that the author produced or directed the film, she had something to do with it anyway

The book originaly started out as a twilight fanfiction

I actually agree with this. I think she would suit the role rather well.

i also think Alexis Bledel would be a good ana...

I must be the only person who is really not bothered, was curious and read the first book. Finished it just because I started it, and also ended up flickering through sex scenes, partly because they were getting boring and secondly it meant I would get to the end quicker.

Very much doubt I will bother with the other two.

I spent 2 hours reading the first one yesterday. I can't put it down!

Ok, finally starting the first book today!!! You ladies have me excited!

Ive read the whole series four times now in 3 weeks lmao. I also just finished that bared to you book laura2919 and i agree its even better than FSOG and cant wait for the next one in october x

I've just started reading this yesterday and honestly i'm a little disappointed. I feel like i'm reading about the characters of Twilight, their mannerisms and descriptions are way too much like those described in Twilight which is kind of off putting.

I'm no prude, I love being naughty in the bedroom and trying new things (way tmi ) so I thought I would really enjoy this book but so far its just boring me a bit. IMO if a book is good, it makes you not want to put it down. But i've found myself getting bored after a few chapters. We'll see, perhaps my opinion will change as the story goes on.

I'm kinda rooting for them though. I hope she changes him and they fall in love.......

I personally noticed a lot of similarities with that of Twilight....have you read the Twilight books? JW because its not like the movie :)

Christian and Edward are too alike for my liking. They both have darker secrets, are quite controlling and a bit patronising. Also the way they both have dark looks about their eyes and disapproving, pressing their lips together in a line and glaring - I know these are general descriptions but I think they're very much a like. They both even have red hair and are adopted. Also, they both are stinking rich, have the ability to make anyone do anything for them 'that look that makes women fancy them' and have a fondness of fancy cars and luxuries. More money than sense. Ooooo and also, neither of them had managed to find love until meeting the main character in the story.

Secondly is the brothers of both characters. I found the personality of Christians brother very much like Emmett of Twilight. Very boisterous, very sexual, very 'baby' like.

Bella and Ana are also very a like. Neither have a sense of style. Have issues with self confidence and equilibrium problems. Both have parents which collapsed relationships. In both stories, their stepfather has an accident which prevents their parents from attending graduation.

In addition to this is the location. The whole discussion of Seattle and Portland. It all just makes me feel like i'm reading a dirty porno of Edward and Bella :dohh:

I've noticed all of these within the first 100 pages or so, i'm not very far into the first book. Feel free to dispute them though, i'm quite interested to see if anyone else has drawn up the same conclusions as I have :)

well said :thumbup:I think ur right maybe its because I havent read all the twilight books I only read the last one (breaking dawn). The good thing is that while I was reading it ... I never pictured Edward!! It had to be someone older hotter ...ok ok ...from chapter 1 I confess , Ian Somerhalder poped in my head ...:blush: Its like he was born for this role..

Sadly the amount that is taken up by the sex does make it drag on which is a shame because the back story is pretty good but over shadowed by all the sex and does get a bit boring.
If you skip the sex every now and then it makes the book better in my oppinion.

I agree with you about the whole twilight thing though, the who way through the first book (not so much with the ovther ones) it felt like I was just reading twilight minus the sparkiling ie the whole your safer staying away from me but im going to follow you anyway and I have a big dark secret thing

Dont forget Mia his sister is just Alice all over again, bouncy, annoying, wants desperatly for Ana to to be a sister type part of the family and always trying to act like she wants to make her over.

There is another huge similarity later on when it comes to a vacation but ill leave that just in case you havnt got that far :)
