So my little man is 6 days old and all was text book on the poo front.....but it's now been about 30 hours since he's had a bowel movement. Despite trying my very best on the breast feeding front (I'm just not producing any milk, next stop the BF section!), he is solely formula fed which I have read can slow things down for the little ones as it is harder to digest.

So, how long do I leave it before really starting to worry and what can I do for my little man to get things moving for him again?

Any advice most gratefully received!

I could be wrong but I heard something about 48 hours.. I am not sure if that was for urine though.. I wouldn't worry yet at 30 hours, but to be safe you should call your pedi. Maybe try rubbing his tummy a bit to get things moving or moving his legs back & forth like a bicycle a tad bit? Movements can hep the digestive system work better.

They want to see regular BMs during those first few days as the change of meconium to green poo, then orange/mustard is a sign that the bowel is functioning correctly (it wasn't used in the womb, so it is good to check it works!).

If you've flushed the meconium out already I wouldn't be worried about 30hrs without poo. A bf baby can go 2 days (sometimes more but mine never did!) without poo because breastmilk contains so little that doesn't get used by their body. I don't know much about FF I'm afraid.

As LO is so young though I'd ask for advice if it gets to 48hrs or if LO seems ill in any way.
