Yes I think so...with my first I had him in the morning and was out by late afternoon...would have been sooner too but they were mad busy so took ages for the doctor to come and see me
Yes I think most hospitals will let you go the same day if you have a smooth delivery. i suppose the number of hours it takes depends on how busy it is so how long the paper work etc. takes to do xx
I was induced with DD2 lovely straightforward delivery and was all set to go home 6 hours post delivery but the consultant changed her mind to keep an eye on my high bp. So yes no complications and you should be able to go home no problem
I had an induction with my son, but had to have a forceps delivery in theatre in the end. So we had to stay over night and then ALLL day the next day waiting to be discharged. I hated it all just wanted to go home where I could relax. I'm hoping this time it wont be as stressed.
I think a lot of it depends on how your labor goes as well and at what time LO is born and your cleaned up etc. If its really late at night and by the time get cleaned up and the usual tests and checks get done, it might be a silly time to discharge you.
6 hour discharge? Is this in UK? That sounds amazing. It was a 24 hour d/c when I had DD, which was the earliest they'd allow at the time. I was ready to go home, where (ex)DH could help and I could get better rest.
I was promised a 6hr discharge but never got it - I had to go to hospital to be induced due to baby being 14days late and had previously ben planning home birth.
I arrived at hospital at 8am as advised, no beds, returned at 11am - still no beds, eventually got a bed at 3pm and got induced at 4pm (ARM) and baby was born at 6:30pm the same evening. I then asked about the 6hr discharge and they said no way, under any circumstances would they do a discharge at midnight. I was in immense pain from an emergency forceps delivery with no analgesia or anaesthesia and suffering from SPD that I could not walk out if I wanted to, and had to spend the night in hospital with un-sympathetic nurses telling me I had 'just had a baby' when I asked for help -despite the fact that I had arrived on crutches and had been on crutches for the past 4 months before having the trauma of an Anderson's forceps delivery which practically split my symphus pubis. I would have been much easier at home with my hubby and family helping me out.
I must admit I was pissed off -why promise me a 6hr discharge then totally dismiss me once they realised it would be midnight?
I think as long as no complications then you would be allowed it depending on the time lo was born. At my hospital you have to see a doc before you leave and they stop doing rounds at about tea time, so the later you give birth the more likely you have to stay in. Id check your hospital policy though as everywhere seems to be slightly different.
as long as its a smooth delivery then at our hospital you can go after 6 hours if you and baby are ok, if youve had any kind of drugs like epi/pethidine/morphine they like to keep you overnight to check for side effects so i made sure i only had gas and air with my 2 so i could get home asap! hoping to do same this time x
