6 Weeks and 1 day pregnant and worried (cervix question)

Hi everyone,
it was such a shock for me when I found out on sunday that I was pregnant. I was 21 dpo and hd absolutely no idea whatsoever that i had conceived. hubby and i had "successful sex" lol, once, so as you can imagine i was overwhelmed when i saw that i was pregnant
i saw a dr yesterday who confirmed the pregnancy and requested a midwife but i cant help but worry bout something.
around the time i got my bfp my cervix was high, low, hard, firm, soft, really low... and was no indication whatsoever, hence it being a shock.
i have a 2 year old and this pregnancy is nothing likeit was the first time round.
with my first, my cervix was high and hard from 8 dpo which is how i knew i ws preg, and i had watery cm
with this one, my cp is all over the place and changes all the time, and my vaginal discharge is creamy/ewcm and is not "flooding" like with myfirst.
i know that no 2 pregnancies are the same but what im worried about is the position of my cervix; shouldnt it be high by now????? it feels slightly open too and im not sure if this is because i have had one vaginal birth already, one may i add, that was not the easiest. (forcepts and episiotomy) im rather worried i have an incompetent cervix.
can anyone reassure me that this is not the case????

Please try not to worry. Try to refrain from poking about up there as well, its only getting you worked up, and cp isnt a firm indicator of anything x

update... she just called and had to ask "do you mean the cervix on the outside of your vagina" WTF???????? since wen did women have cervix on the outside....??

LOL, i have no idea what she means by the cervix outside of your vagina!!

But I do know... from doing my own research, that CP isn't really a clear indicator of pregnancy! But when I felt mine, it was softish and quite high. I wouldn't dare go poking about in there now.. Feels very strange! Think i'd have trouble finding it too because it was so high! x x

Hahaha!! Sorry but that just made me laugh!! There's really no hope if the midwife is asking stupid questions like that!!! lol

On a serious note, I wouldn't worry, mine has been all over the place too.I'm going to stop poking about and leave it alone now, just panics me when it's different!!!

I'm afraid it made me laugh out loud too, I can only hope that she misheard you or you got a bad line, otherwise I think she failed her anatomy class!

I wouldn't worry too much (well, I know you will, but what I mean is I doubt that it's a problem), perhaps you can call another midwife/doctor and ask? It could well be perfectly normal. If bad deliveries caused incompetent cervixes (cervices?!?) then it would be much more common than it is.

You have already had one child, which will make your cervix a little different, before it was a pretty little round circle inside and that was the entrance to you cervix, now its kind of mishapen, thats why you feel like it's slightly open. Make sense? I would do as the others are saying, keep your fingers away, each time that you insert your non-sterile finger into your vagina, you are increasing your risk of getting an infection, as well as irritating your cervix, so no worries, CP isnt a tell all sign!

my cervix is medium height, hard but shut, the main thing is it is shut, height and softness is not important it will change in its own time

I was told not to mess with the cervix in the 2 week wait and so on because it goes crazy after ovulation.

Thanks for the replies, it's sorta made me feel more at ease.
regarding this midwife, she was bloody useless... i was thinkng about it last night and after I spoke with her I actually called my father just to tell him of the sheer incompetence of midwives today.
Amongst the "cervix outside of the vaginal" comment, she proceeded to tell me that midwifes dont know how cervix feesl at the beginnin of pregnancy since they don't mess about up there- then she goes on to tell me that (as someone else has stated) since I have had a baby my cervix is the shape of a flipping "pie crust" lol.. so here's me at the other end of the phone invisioning my cervix and a steak and ale pie LOL..

She was meant to be my midwife but thankfully due to the location of where I live, I have to have someone closer.... probably just as well.. OH and then when I mentioned mycervix again she goes on to try and correct me by saying "Oh you mean your perinium"? lol... "
No chuck, if meant my arse region i'd have stated "the region around my anus"

And I think it's worrisom for me now...??? God help me should they all be like her!!lol

Proudmum your cervix position will change, especially since you have already had a child. Sometimes it can take longer to move up and fully close and then soften. I really wouldn't worry about, honestly.
Now stop poking at it and let it do its job LOL LOL LOL

I'm glad that you'll be seeing someone else.

I guess the women in her old practice had their cervixes in a different place to how it works in her new locality?

Good grief, when your midwife hasn't heard of the cervix you know it's time to find a new midwife!

Still trying to figure out the pie crust comment. What sort of pie?

Mine has changed alot and took a while longer than the 'average' time it says it starts to rise. It felt very fleshy and soft last time I felt it but now can't find it! I am 10 weeks now and could still feel it at 7. I had read you normally find it difficult to find around 6 weeks...but that also everyone is different - I certainly was xxxxx

im 6 weeks 2 days and mine is defiitely feelable. i cant stop worying about it... it feels fleshy like you said and i can feel the slit like openig, it feels sorta open.
wen it turns firm i cant feel the opening but when it goes mushy i can...
im not havin a scan til 2nd dec, i dont know how im going to cope...
