Is there a 7 month sleep regression?
After working so hard to let Tobi learn to self settle at 5 months and get him to stop waking in the night, it seems to be all going a bit wrong again!
I don't want to resort to our techniques if it is a regression as it won't make any difference!
Has anyone else found that their 7 month old or almost 7 month old's sleep suddenly regressed?

Don't think it his teeth as I can usually tell when they are bothering him.

ive heard there is one at 8 months...so it could well be he is just going through it early....o even seeing the words sleep regression makes me sad i dont want to do that all again xxx

teething hun, all evil is from teething :( Bella self-settles since three months, and 4 months sleep regression only lasted a week for us, but once teething started all bets are off. She could have a wonderful night sleeping 13 hours or she can go screaming in her crib every hour, until she is hugged and rocked. You never really know.

What she said! We have good days and bad days with no real pattern. The only thing I would say that now she is getting a bit older she is learning to play us a bit more. So if she has a bad night due to her teeth and gets lots of cuddles, the next night she expects cuddles again when there is nothing wrong! I have to be strict and leave her to it and the next night she will be back to sleeping through 12 hours again...

Your little one is one day older than Tobias!
At 4 months, Tobi's sleep was so bad anyway, that I never noticed it. I have now started to get used to getting better nights sleep and it all goes wrong!

I have found this too, he is really learning to play us! Which is why I try to leave it for a while.... but when I think he has ramped his cry up... he is just realising that this is the cry we come to! Its all so confusing!

Its just so frustrating after working so hard to improve his sleeping to have it go down the drain and to go back to having a grumpy boy cos he is too tired to sleep!

Don't want to think it is teething as there is really not a lot I can do about that!!

What's he doing? He is cranky and eating, or is he wide awake and refusing to sleep???

Cause if he's happy to chew on the bottle, it's probably teething or if he's drinking frequently, it's growing. The refusing to sleep is often a sign of needing to practice his new skill/brain going a mile a minute

Hope it gets better for you :(

My little girl (born on 23 april 2010) have NEVER slept through the night... i am still waiting for that day!

She sleeps in her room but wakes twice during the night for a 5oz formula feed.

Thought food will help but naaaa.. still no luck. I must say though i am used to waking up now...

xx

Dear Tobias:

Please let mommy sleep. I know you think she doesn't have to cause she already spent a few decades sleeping, but she still needs her rest! I'll give u a cookie if you sleep through the night...

Thanks
Auntie Aliss

It's not really down the drain, it's just when they are in pain. Once it cuts the gum, you'll get some rest again and so on until they have all teeth in place. When somebody told me it's going on until they are two, I blocked it out for a while. You can help of course, there are teething gels (not sure on UK) but I found painkillers work much better than gel at least with my little girl. I try not to give it too often, but when it gets very tough, I do cave in and the next thing I know she's asleep till morning.

On the other note, Bella has started to pull up to a stand and now always wants to stand up and doesn't want to sit on my lap (only when she's teething) and god forbid I want to keep her from going, she wants to grab everything and she needs to be always standing. As frustrating as teething is, something tell me that she won't really need my cuddles and rocking very soon. So when it's 4 am and they demand to be hugged, just remember that soon enough it will be us asking them for a hug :)

He just wakes up and cries and then with a little cuddle he is back to sleep (generally) occasionally I will nurse him if it is the right time of the night!
He doesn't seem to be chewing any more than normal... everything has gone in this mouth for months! Plus he is BF so I can't let him chew the nipple! (Ouch!)

He doesn't refuse to sleep, he wants to sleep, just is struggling to self settle!

Tobi is one day older than your LO!

Tobi has never STTN either, but we had gone from 10-15 wakes a night to just one at 430 for a breast feed!

I think if the wake ups are regular every night, then you can adjust your sleep and feel ok with it, but when it is all over the place, it is much harder!

Dear Auntie Aliss,
thank you for your message but I like waking up in the night and having a cuddle, I miss my mummy in the night time and can't bear to go that long without seeing her!
Can I still have that cookie though as I am so adorable!?
Love Tobias
