Hey lotte, a positive OPK means you are just about to ovulate. Just prior to ovulation, your lutenizing hormone (LH) peaks. A positive OPK means that it has detected your LH surge, which typically happens 24-48 hours before ovulation.
The egg lives 12-24 hours after being released from the ovary. Since it can take sperm several hours to reach the egg, having sex in the few days prior to ovulation is often better than having sex on O day itself.
