Hi My DD is 8 1/2 months old and is having 3 meals a day plus snacks. She now only Breastfeeds morning 6am and night 6.30pm. She has self weaned and doesnt 'ask' for any more but I am worried she isnt getting enough milk. How many time is your 8/9 month old feeding? Thanks

Mine was probably having about. 6, some at night. But wasn't eating much solid food

Typical Day
Breastfed at 6am
Porridge at 8.30am made with 4oz milk
lunch 11.30 - sandwich yoghurt and rice cake
2pm fruit
4.30 tea - Spag Bol or chicken dinner etc with fruit
6.30pm Breastfed

Elliot has a very similar routine, and he also loves his solids. We currently have 3 breast feeds a day, but he is never overly interested in his lunchtime milk. Our routine is

7am bf
8am breakfast fruit and shreddies
12am bf
1pm lunch, sandwich and fruit
4pm snack (sometimes)
5pm dinner , meat or fish and veg plus yoghurt
7pm bf

Like I said he doesn't seem to mind whether he gets the lunchtime milk or not, so thought at 9months I would swap round with the solids in the process of phasing it out.

I was reading up on this as my LO only had 3 breast feeds the other day and I was concerned that this wasn't enough. What I read on Kelly mom was to always offer, don't wait for LO to ask for a feed as this is a form of weaning. So maybe you could try to offer a breast feed instead if a snack, or before lunch?

I have decided to keep my LO at on 2 meals a day as I didn't want her to reduce her breast feeds. She's 7 and a half months and is on 4 feeds daily, except for that one day of 3!!
