I am 16 and 8-weeks pregnant with my first and I am terrified on how I'm gonna tell my parents.. at this point I kind of just want to wait till I start to show , but I know they will be even more dissapointed and say "why didnt u tell us sooner". Any advice?

When I was 19 and scared to tell my parents, I waited until we got into an argument (over laundry soap, haha) and just blurted it out,"Oh yeah ma! Guess what? I'm pregnant." Tears rolling down my face. My parents looked shocked, 10 minutes later asked what were my plans e.g., are you keeping it? etc. I said I was keeping it and then my dad said,"this is going to change your goals and future." He was right, I had to put college on hold but now my parents can't imagine life without their grand baby. This was years ago and I did graduate college and got married to a great man and now pregnant with my 3rd.

Cheer up, it's only going to be a few weeks of your parents being upset (rightfully upset), so bear with them. Just "rip off the band-aid" I know you're so scared, but it will be said and done and you can move on and start enjoying your pregnancy. Good luck, sweetie.:flower::flower:

Welcome to BnB & congratulations.
I'm Shannon, I have a 3 year old named Victoria "Tori" and have a 2 month old named Bryson.

I would tell your parents as soon as possible, you'd be surprised how they might react. :hugs:

Hey, I know exactly how you feel as that's how I was in the beginning of my pregnancy and now I'm due tomorrow. I was only 16 myself when I fell pregnant and have just turned 17.

I wouldn't suggest leaving it that long as I did that and unfortunately my mum found out through other parents which found out and she was devastated that I didn't turn to her for help in the beginning and then she was even more upset that she didn't find out from me herself.

Parents would always take such shocking news better if you was to speak to them first about it and your options, not all parents react great at first it may cause a week or so of distance whilst you parent gets used to the idea of their baby having a baby. But there is so much support out there not just your parents.. luckily my mum is so happy for the whole pregnancy and a baby now but it took her a month to start talking to me again. There's negatives and positives to every situation.. now I'm due tomorrow (15th july 2014) and I cannot wait.

Good luck with everything.. best wishes xx

I agree with previous posters, do it quick like a bandaid, just tell them, or else it will eat at you and make you feel guilty about not telling them. Then when you do tell them they may be a little upset that you didn't tell them sooner. How do you think they will react? Are you worried they would kick you out? If so, you have options, don't think you don't. You might stay with family members until they have cooled off, which they will. If you can't or don't have anyone they have housing for pregnant teens which will help you develop life skills etc. Good luck!! And congrats :)

The sooner the better! I was 16 (2 months off 17) when I fell pregnant with my first, I sent my mum and text and turned my phone off, I told her face-to-face with our second (18 years old then) and I wish I had done that the first time, it was hard but much easier than a text! Good luck :flower:

Congratulations too! I'm Clair, 19, I have a 2 year old son called Jason and an almost 7 month old daughter called Lily :)

going from personal experiance it is always better to tell your parents sooner than later :hugs: good luck

I'm a mother and the advice I could only give you is go ahead and tell your parents and don't be scared. You should be more scared if you don't see a doctor yet and you wouldn't know your condition and your baby which is very important. It's already there and I'm pretty sure they will accept that baby inside you :)
