Hello all - I went in for my first vaginal ultrasound yesterday and there was nothing there -- not even a sac. I'm supposed to be 9 weeks. The lining looked a little thicker but not much else. They took my HCG and I was around 46,800. My doc scheduled me for a D&C tmwr and a possible laparoscopy to determine ectopic pregnancy. I've had no bleeding or pain. Just some fatigue and breast tenderness. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Did they look at your ovaries/tubes to see if there was a mass? I would get this done before anything else. XO and gl!

Sounds very unlikely to be ectopic at 9 weeks with no real pain. Do you have a tilted uterus Nd maybe that's why they couldn't get. Good view of what is in there? How many weeks does your HCg suggest you are?

I'd be very sceptical about a d and c tomorrow without a second opinion, personally. Xx

Agree with others-get a second opinion... They should have checked your ovaries during the u/s, and the fact that they didn't makes me wonder how experienced the tech was...

At 9 weeks, you would be in a LOT of pain if it was, If not having immediate surgery due to a tube erruputing due to the growing baby. 6 weeks, is when most doctors notice it, because this is the time it starts to hurt, and cause problems. I would ask for a second ultrasound or switch doctors, before going though with the D&C.

I agree with the other ladies, DO NOT get a d&c. Go get some other opinions. It also sounds sketchy to me that if the doctor suspected an ectopic, why didnt they check you're tubes??? Doesn't sound right.

... uh... yeah... I'd be researching all options starting with another in-depth scan of your tubes and ovariesbefore just allowing exploratory surgery of what may be a viable pregnancy

My friend had a suspected ectopic...they started the op an did key hole surgery only to NOT find a tubal pregnancy...

She was just a lot earlier on than she though...he son is now 7months an totally healthy! X

They suspected me for ectopic with my first miscarriage and I was told by seven weeks Id be in unbearable pain and began my wait.
Something doesn't sound right. Why didn't they ultrasound to see where it was? That's puzzling. My HcG never got even close to that high....those numbers mean something is growing pretty well and they should be able to see it.

I hope you are doing okay, ectopic worries are so scary. :flower:

I agree with the others! My ectopic was spotted around 6 weeks as I started to have bleeding and pain and my hcg was only in the 100's.
It was then removed emergency surgery as it was growing and would have ruptured my tube if not taken out when it was!

I definitely would NOT get a D&C done until you've sought second opinion..

There's noway a ectopic would be at 9weeks you'd be in excruciating pain & possibly having spotting... If you have a retroverted uterus it could be possible to miss the sac & only been seen by transvaginal scan... Get a second opinion..
