90% Effaced and 3cm dilated -- Is labor coming soon?

At my check up today (37 weeks + 3 days) my doctor told me I was 3 cm dilated and the cervix was 90% effaced. She said that the reason I am so uncomfortable is because the baby is sitting really low and right on top of my bladder. Does this mean the baby is coming soon?

They also hooked me up to the monitor for about 30 minutes to check on baby because I said the movements haven't been the same. Turns out I was having some contractions and I didn't really feel them.

Thoughts? I feel ready!

Dont want to burst your bubble but I've been 2-3 cm and 70-80% effaced for weeks now! With contractions that come and go. That doesn't mean it can't happen soon for you though, that alone is just not a very good predictor

Darn! I was hoping to have the baby before the weekend

I was 2 cm dilated 2 weeks ago. Then last week I was 2-3cm with 75% effaced. Now this week I am "a good 3 cm" and 90% effaced. Hopefully that is a sign things are moving in the right direction.

It's so hard to know. I was 3 cm and about 80% effaced at my due date with my first and still went 10 days past. Frustrating. But it also could be any day! You really just don't know. Good luck! I hope it's soon for you!
