A change in poo consistency since being on SMA LF

As those of you who have read some of my previous threads may know, Grace has been suffering from horrific colic/wind and was prescribed SMA LF and we started it 2 days ago.

Previously she would only have one explosive poo a day, usually around lunchtime, and this was preceeded by a good 2 or 3 hrs of frighteningly traumatic screaming followed by such a huge amount of poo that it always overflowed her nappy and almost filled her baby grow ending up covering her legs and back in it. Sometimes it came up as far as her neck!!!!! It was the usual colour but had lots of undigested milk pips in it and had such a rancid, rotten smell.

Well since being on SMA LF she has been pooing much less traumatically, with just a few minutes of crying beforehand and passing it much more easily (she also had 2 poos yesterday). However the thing that I have noticed is that it is still the same yellow colour but is a very even creamy consistency with no pips in at all and it smells the usual sickly sweet smell. The only downside is that it doesn't seem to fill her up for as long though.

Has anybody else noticed a change in their LO's poo since using it or that it doesn't seem to satisfy them for as long?

The formula I have actually has a special paragraph explaining how babies poops will change once going on it. Lots will poop after every feed, there's so much extra they don't absorb so it goes right through them.

my baby is 8 weeks tomorrow and has been on sma lf for 5 days now and finding it making him a little constipated x

Hi

Not sure what lf is (sorry!) but dd changed from normal SMA to Aptamil comfort and she def goes much more frequently and it is much more runny. She has more pips on comfort.

xx

My lo is on SMA LF And his poo changed almost instantly!
But he's now on Gaviscon as well so tends to be constipated alot :(

Hey, i had the same problem with my son, although he was pooing water and was yellowish colour, with a horrible sweet smell, i always knew something was wrong, doctor asked me to get a stool and urine sample and he was tested for lactose intolerance. Tests came back as a mild trace of intolerance and he was put on Karicare De-Lact formula and the smell went instantly. His poo's went from watery to smooth consistency. He also said he should grow out of the mild intolerance once he starts eating solids but still need to keep an eye on him. Good luck with bub though. :)
