I know, I have a way to go before having to decide, but I am slightly leaning towards FF my LO instead of BF.

While I know that 'breast is best' I have been thinking about it alot.

How do you know how much milk your LO has taken on BF? At least with FF you always know how much they have.

I don't want to BF in public. Bit selfish I know but I don't have confidence as it is, I don't want to BF infront of OH family or in public and there isn't any nursing rooms in town.

I FF my son and thought I wanted to BF this time, but I don't think I do.

I'm worried everyone is going to make comments to me and think I should just BF though! I know it will be my decision but did you get much comments??

If I do FF, I have already decided onmy bottles (TT closter to nature ones) and wouldn't pre make them up, but get the powder dispensers.

Do you warm your LO bottles up or do you feed at room temp? Is it better to warm it up?
Or feed at room temo and warm up the bedtime one? I did that with my son when he was a bit older but had warmed them up from the start.

If I was to feed at room temp, can I boil the kettle, let it cool then put the amount into bottles and close them? How long can you leave boiled cooled water in a sterilised bottle for until feeding?

I think there are comments no matter which way you choose to feed :hugs:

Or feed at room temo and warm up the bedtime one? I did that with my son when he was a bit older but had warmed them up from the start. We premade our bottles and stored them in the refrigerator for 24 hours (guidelines are always changing though!) and warmed them up as she wanted them. It's fine to give bottles at room temp though if your LO will take them that way

This I'm not sure on as we premade bottles. I didn't leave water in the kettle for longer than thirty minutes. From what I was told the water had to be hot to kill the bacteria in the milk powder, hence us making them up before and storing them in the refrigerator. guidelines do change though all the time it seems and I know a fair amount of people who have made bottles up this way instead

I have a long way to go too but after having a bad experience trying to BF my son I am "researching" well in advance for no.2!
I managed to BF my son for 1 week, I personally found it horrendous.
He was constantly feeding and from what I have read on here, that seems to be pretty much the "norm" for the first 4 weeks!! I think I would have collapsed if I had gone on any longer.
I know not every baby is the same etc and I plan to try BF again BUT if I find I am experiencing the same again this time then I will swap to formula.
Last time I found the only comments I got were positive that it was better to switch to formula than to continue BF and making myself excessively tired and ill - how can I be a good mummy if I can hardly even function due to tiredness?
Anyway my point is, you do what you feel is right for you, screw what anyone else says/thinks (if you do get negative comments), you can't please everyone. :hugs:

Thankyou :)

I am not good on little sleep, so I KNOW I am going to be really tired if I BF!
I won't have time to ''constantly feed'' for the 1st 4 weeks as OH will go back to work after 2 and I will have a 5yo son and 2 dogs to take care of aswell as making sure they have clean stuff to wear (OH can't iron, he burns his work shirts!)

Food, I can cope with little of, sometimes it can be early afternoon before I can force myself to eat something for LO. The thought of food early am makes me feel ill! But sleep? Unless I have 4 hours solid sleep I am useless! So I'm guessing that would be made even worse by constant feeding, which would have an effect on my son, as he will have broken up for summer by the time LO is born so I need to have time for him too.

I think with FF I would feel better knowing how much LO was feeding, and could probably get into a routine quicker (my life is made up of routines!)
