A Poem I wrote for my baby boy

I dont know if anyone is interested but Ive been walking around with a notebook the last couple of days to write down ideas for a poem. This is what i have come up with

I haven’t held you in my arms
Or called you by your name
I haven’t seen you look at me
But I love you just the same
I’ve wanted you so much
For such a long long time
To hold you in my arms
To sing you nursery rhymes
You haven’t grabbed my finger
And wrapped your hand around
You haven’t taken your first breath
Or even made a sound
I’ve only felt you move around
Tucked inside my tum
I’ve not heard you gargle
Or seen you try to suck your thumb
Your first nappy hasn’t been changed yet
You haven’t had your feed
And although we haven’t even met
You make my heart race with speed
Your eyes are not yet opened
To see your new world unfold
Your mummy and daddy waiting
Longing for you to hold
I look down at my belly
And watch it move about
I know that you are in there
Of that there is no doubt
I’m looking forward to the day
When we will get to meet
To watch while you’re sleeping
Will make my life complete
I long to stroke your soft hair
And brush my fingers down your cheek
I can’t wait to see just how you look
Everything about you will be unique
I haven’t seen your gorgeous eyes
Or kissed your little face
My heart belongs to you already
I just want to keep you safe
I’m going to be your mummy
And I can’t wait until that day
I love you so much baby boy
That is all that I can say

Yep i must admit i had watery eyes writing it. The feelings are hard to put into words
