I'm not sure where to post birth stories? But thought it might be of help to ladies reading this section as this really is a very positive birth story I have to share, everything didnt go to plan everything still went really well!
I woke up on the morning of the 14th and my waters broke, all over my bedroom rug! I was so shocked as last time my waters didnt break until second stage. I continued to leak, i called the midwife on call as i had planned a home birth. My DD is shouting, mummys wet herself!
while I'm on the phone to my mum. My waters broke again and this time they were brown, so i called midwife back and she came half an hour after to assess me, and informed me that there was meconium (the baby had pood already) so i had to be transferred to hospital ![nope :nope: :nope:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/nope.gif)
I was getting some mild contractions when i reached the hospital but nothing painful. I got 2 belts put around my bump, one to measure babys heartrate and another to measure contractions, i got out of the bed and sat on the birth ball, i done slow breathes on in for 4 and out for 8 in between contractions, which were about 5 mins apart, and slow breathing, in for 10, out for 10 during contractions. I got examined and told I was only 2cm dilated. The doctors wanted to hook me up to syntocinon drip to speed things up but midwifes bought me more time to labour naturally as baby was very happy and I was getting contractions which were coming closer together. I was scared to go on drip. My mum arrived late afternoon and gave me massage with clary sage. They then really wanted to get me on drip, so they had to dig into my veins to attach the thing that the drip goes in, the midwife tried one hand and she couldnt get it in, that was very sore, i said i would prefer a million contractions! then a doctor came in and tried my other hand, with success, they put some saline fluids to flush the drip through, but never started with the syntocinin, then I got some more contractions, and said these feel different, like i need to push! then so suddenly I went into transition, then it all got very intense! I got some gas/air and they cut off the drip, as it wasnt needed after all![Smile :-) :-)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png)
I had a show during transition and the second stage was very quick, i could feel the baby moving down the birth path now and couldnt help but push during each contraction which now came very close together, perhaps 30 secs or so, this was the most enjoyable experience i knew baby was coming and it felt great. The midwife's asked me what position I chose to give birth and I said same as last time, i got on the bed and squatted using the back of the bed which was up, for support. I said the baby's coming! and about 4 contractions later it did, I felt the baby descend the head come and then I waited for the next contraction and the shoulders along with the rest of the body came gently out, I turned around to and received my baby, this was the happiest moment.
The midwife said, do you not want to know what uve got? I looked, and said, a girl! I held her close and offered her a feed, but she wasnt interested, she had wee cry, then lay there so calmly. I started getting rather painful contractions as my placenta still had to come out. Within half hour, It came out intact, I had no injection or cord traction. My bleeding was also measured at only 100mls or less. When the cord stopped pulsating and turned white, my mum cut it, the baby cried a bit, like she got a fright that her cord was cut (if theres a next time i think I'll ask to leave it on even longer). The baby was then weighed, she came in at 7 pounds 14 oz. I was moved to the midwife centre ward and baby fed well and slept. So far she is very calm, sleeps for up to 5 hours at a time, and feeds brilliantly, she's already nearing 9 pounds just a week and bit after being born. She has been named Julia.
I hope this story gives you a positive feel towards labour and birth and helps you remember to trust your body, it knows what it needs to do, stay calm and breathe, you can have a gentle relaxed birth even if things dont go to plan![Smile :-) :-)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png)
