Spoke to the consultant this morning - had seen him on wednesday and had asked about the possibility of being moved from low dose aspirin to heparin and would that happen later in the pregnancy. He was happy to leave me on the aspirin just now but I did push him for an answer so he said he would talk to his colleagues and see if there was any consensus. I lost Evie at 33 weeks due to blood clots on the placenta (and the sonographer wasn't paying attention but moving on!). So he went off and did a straw poll and it was (suprise suprise) inconclusive! So he's been mulling it over and reading up on the subject and I'm going to talk to him on tuesday about starting on fragmyn. He's got some stuff to show me and he is starting to lean towards starting it as if god forbid disaster was hit again I would be n fragmyn from the moment of a BFP next time so he's thinking why not start it now?
So a very long way of asking what you all think? What was the reasoning your consultants gave you for starting/not starting heparin treatment?
Thank you!

Hi hun, im on aspirin and daily injections of 40ml Clexane and have been since 4w 1 day

My third miscarriage was a missed miscarriage and i had two further miscarriages after that. Testing came back as a positive for Anti Philosophid (spelling sorry) Syndrome (APS for short) I had the Lupus Anticoagulant part think some girls have the same but Hughes Syndrome.

I was only a weak positive but because of having 5 miscarriages they decided it would be wise to give it to me. I tested weak positive after miscarriage number 3 and miscarriage 5 so there was a raised element of concern.

I had to shout to get it but once i had spoken to the haemotologist he was more than happy to prescribe it.

I think its that thats worked as im now 19 weeks and have had no bleeding or problems at all so im all for pushing for it where needed.

I'm on clexane 80mg twice daily, but that is due to pulmonary emboli is my last pregnancy, not due to miscarriages.

However, I had premature rupture of membranes in my last pregnancy and it seems blood clots are often a cause of this. I have been checked for blood disorders and none have been found, but I feel reasurred being on the clexane anyway. I will go down to once a day at the end of Sept. once I am past 6 months after the original diagnosis.

am on fragmin 500ml injection once a day because of a prothrombin gene mutation. At first consultation with senior registrar I was put just on baby aspirin, but when consultant checked my records they put me on heparin immediately too. Think I'm on it until 23 weeks when they do an extra scan to see how things are going. (I'm not thinking that far ahead so didn't register it all!)

I had two miscarriages one missed (found at 10 weeks) and one at 6 1/2 weeks. Also got high natural killer cells.

I'm on baby aspirin daily because Isabella was a 2nd trimester loss and they said it was just a good idea.

Also I have had two placental abruptions in a row so it wouldn't be a bad idea for that.

Well I went and after talking round it for a while decided to go for it. So on 500 units of fragmin twice a day and going in next week to have bloods checked. Can't say I'm thrilled to have to jab myself twice a day but my OH is doing some of them and he seems to enjoy a little too much for comfort!
Anyway, thank you girls, we put ourselves through a lot but we do it all in the hope it will bring a happy ending to our pregnancies I guess!!
