Okay so personally I am not having one, but I have a question!
This is more to ask what happens to people outside of Aus.
When you have had a previous c-section have they told you that you cannot have a natural labor the next time round?

Thanks ladies.

No they just say some midwifes and doctors won't allow pregnant women to be started off, but I had a section 2 years ago and my consultant is going to induce me if need be :)

Are you hoping to VBAC hun?

In the UK VBAC is becoming more popular and in my area is promoted over repeat CS, it is after all in a normal pregnancy safer and leads to better post partum period outcomes for mother and baby.

Some women may be told a VBAC would be unwise dependent upon the circumstances of the prior CS and how the pregnancy is progressing or any underlying conditions.

For instance if you had an old fashion vertical incision CS VBAC is discouraged as UR rates are increased.

Well I am in Aus, so probably not what you want. But I just had a vbac a month ago. The doctors were fairly supportive at my hospital, but I know some would have preferred I had a repeat-c. The midwives were awesome and very encouraging though.

Thankyou ladies! It has just been niggling at me because I have seen a lot of previous c-sectioners and they have said their doctors are trying to make them do it again.

I've been told I can attempt a VBAC but only labour for 8 hours before they section me.

Yeah you have a choice and they say you can have a VBAC without difficulty if your pregnancy has progressed nicely. But they will go through everything which happened with your previous one or ones. The more c sections you have had the less likelihood of being allowed a VBAC.

The thing's they won't do like people have said is anything to induce you, they will also advise not to do capsules, RLT or anything else which can stimulate the uterus as it can cause the scar to rupture.

But other than that they actually urge you have a VBAC unless there is complications.

hopefully having a second vbac with my 3rd LO

LOL not in my area, my MW encouraged it to tone my uterus. RLT is only a uterine tonic if you take it and feel pain hen stop otherwise it wont cause any harm.

my consultant has left it all up to me. im not allowed to birth on midwife led services, so no home birth, no water birth etc, but he was happy to let me choose the rest, so ive gone for no induction vbac if spontaneous labour happens, and at 12 days 'overdue' im having a section if baby hasnt arrived.
