Hi ladies, forgive what seems like a strange and trivial question, but hoping that someone will be able to help!

I'm coming up for 29 weeks and will be having an elective c-section. I've been reading that you need to shave the top of your lady bits before you go in and this makes sense. However, scars itch and hair itches when it regrows, so I want to know did you shave or wax? I've never had a wax there before (ouch) but I was wondering whether this is a better option as hair takes longer to regrow and therefore shouldn't add extra itching to an already itchy scar.

Does this make sense?? I feel like I'm making up things to worry about a bit, but I am a chronic scratcher when it comes to itching and I don't want to make things worse!

I shaved well rather I was shaven as I went into labour early and without time to do the necessary.
I really didn't find it itchy tbh.
It took a good while for the hair to grow back if I recall rightly.

Hiya,

Well...with my last section I shaved as well as I possibly could and I don't recall it been an itchy problem afterwards =o)
This time I was going to do the same but read through the pre op info they gave me last week and it says not too as can encourage infection?!
So to be safe than sorry I shall leave it for them to do! lol

You should shave, or they will shave for you (they were rather rough with my sister and cut her a few times).

I wouldn't worry about the scar or hair itching right away. That area is normally numb for quite sometime because the nerves. When my hair grew back I couldn't feel it on my scar at all (or around it).

I was induced with my little one and was told I'd be at a higher risk of needing a section, so I shaved. Glad I did as I found it quite embarrassing the doctor asking if I needed to be shaved as I ended up needing as section.

Yeah I'd shave since you already know your having a csection. I had an emergency c section so the nurse shaved for me...awkward lol

I shaved and it was not a problem because you usually end up quite numb there afterwards anyway. The itchiness was more from the scar healing than anything else. If you put an ice pack on when it happens, it will feel more numb again. :flower:

Too much numbness and pain to worry about the hair regrowth itch. The scar continues to itch and feel weird for several months after the c-section, so I found the itching from normal shaving months later was uncomfortable.

The nurses shaved me, as I don't and wasn't planning a section. It didn't seem any weirder than anything else that happens in a hospital.

I don't remember it itching as it grew back in at all though!
