Last year I had high grade abnormal cells which turned out to be cin1 they were left a year to see if they would change back I just received my results and high grade again I have my biopsy on the 5th Feb, I think it's going to be best to have them removed but I am freaking out and wondering if I will look stupid asking to be put to sleep while I get it done, I found this smear and the few days after rather painful and I can't deal with the idea of a needle in my cervix and if the anesthetic doesn't work and I can feel it I dread to think.

I have a few questions
Can I be put to sleep for the procedure?
I assume I will be able to have children after but what if my cervix doesn't hold out, will it be monitored?
I'm more scared than I was last year I should have just got them removed last year :(

Hi I can understand how scared you are I had a biopsy done on my cervix then had to have the laser treatment on my cervix for pre cancerous cells the year before I fell pregnant with my son. I was so ill with worry going for both these procedures. The biopsy felt like a little pinch I got some slight cramping once home but I just lay up in bed with my hot water bottle and I had took 2 pain killers before I left to go up for it which I think helped. For the actual laze treatment (burning the cells away) I was freaking out so bad I told the nurse how scared I was she was so good she stayed up by my head through the procedure and held my hand talking to me the whole time I honestly felt like an idiot after it because it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be the best way I can describe it is like a warm cotton bud being held onto you for a short time.
I'm not sure if you can be put to sleep for ot but you should phone them and tell them how your feeling about having it done.
After having it done I had a healthy normal pregnancy and was full term with my baby
I hope I have been able to ease your worry a little bit and answer some of your questions xxx

Thank you I'm so nervous my appointment is a week today I'm not sure if the removal will be the same day as the biopsy, did you have a normal delivery?

I had a lovely just under 7 hour labour a year and a half ago and now I'm worried I won't be able to do that again, I heard there are cases of failure to dialated or slow dialation so I'm pretty much freaked out about that too.

I always built things up to be worse than they turn out to be but I can't help it I'm so scared xxx

Just wanted to send :hugs: when you say biopsy are they doing a LLETZ procedure? There's a few types of biopsy, some they do put you to sleep for, but for LLETZ or loop biopsy (I think) they don't out you under.

I had it done about 6 months ago, and going back Friday for the follow up smear. It's not that bad I promise. I went to work after mine (I did go home a few hours later as the cramps got a bit worse) but it wasn't horrendous!

In regards to future children I obviously haven't had any yet but I'm very positive it won't affect that, and if it does I'll deal with it then. I hope it goes ok for you :hugs:

No not in my case I had the biopsy 1 day then waited on the results then was a separate appointment for the cell removal.
my birth was normal delivery and I was 7 hours in labour also was 4 1/2 cen before I realised I was actually In labour lol no complications and my son and I were both really well after the birth.
The worst thing bout the procedures is just how uncomfortable it is in that chair but it's over fast it really isn't as bad as you imagine and I was the same as you absolutely ill with worry I even booked the day after it off my work because I though I'd be sore or uncomfortable I was absolutely fine. Just take a couple of pain killers an hour before you go just like you would take them for cramps xx

Keep popping on to see you are hunnie
Hope your appointment went well on Friday xx

Hi sorry I didn't update I haven't been online.

My appointment was moved to the 1st there are more abnormal cells than last year so I had 3 biopsies they want me to wait for my results and wait for a app for the removal I forgot the name loop something, so I'm just patiently waiting for my results I have a horrible feeling the results will be worse than last time xx

Thinking of you, hoping they are just being over cautious x x

Was the loop treatment I had and I can tell you the biopsy was more painful than the loop treatment so try not to worry to much....is it about 2/3 weeks wait for the results ? Xx

I'm more worried about the anesthetic injection that anything to be honest, getting it done and what happens if it doesn't work or something and i can feel it being done, yeah she said 2-3 weeks or so I am so impatient waiting xx

Still no results the hospital doesn't even have them back yet starting to freak out and hoping it is because they are busy xx

Thinkin on u hun ! Its not nice waiting around but trust me if it was anything to worry about theyd be seeing u sooner . Ive had a punch biopsy, two larger biopsies & the lletz procedure . The anaesthetic to the cervix was not painful at all , a small sting wld t even be how i would explain it . Its just like a cold sensation ? During the lletz procedure i felt zero pain my left thigh just felt warm because of the patch they strap to ur leg. I then went on to have my little girl who is now 11 weeks . I had a colposcopy when i was 8 weeks pregnant. There was abnormal cells that showed up so it was scheduled for me to have them removed after i had my baby. I went full term with darcy , dilated perfectly had a 3 hour labour naturally :) went for my colposcopy yesterday had a smear & thankfully cells look normal :) so sometimes having a baby helps. Ill be thinking on u , i know its nerve recking but after it ull be saying it wasnt so bad, best of luck xxx

Hi thank you for your post it's very reasuring to hear your experience, I actually recieved my results this morning CIN1 so they have not changed in the past year on the letter it says that she feels no treatment is required and to see her again in 12months. But when I was there to get my colposcopy she said she was sure she would need to remove them since they were still there and there was more than last time so I'm a little confused by that xx
