I have been having the weirdest, mild contractions all day but more often than every hour. For the past 2 hrs they have been more frequent and I just had 5 in a row about 20-30 seconds apart but also lasting only about 30 seconds. They don't get more intense though and I know that a test never even picked up these mini contractions. I really don't know if I should worry about them...

Hey, it is rare someone has the same interests ;) Feel free to connect if you use Social Media.

Update on the contractions:
I drank a cup of Magnesium Citrate and have not had any for a few minutes...but I'd still like to hear opinions in case someone is experiencing the same. My contractions this pregnancy have been so weird. Either I don't have any for days, or just one or two a day and then there are days when I have up to 8 or more in a row. Plus I had none at all until 22 weeks.

Could they be braxton hicks xz sounds alot like it xx

I am pretty sure they are, just so odd that they would get so frequent. Every site I have reads warns about too many im too little time, yet it always stopped for me so far. And I'd really hate going to the ER for a false alarm. They have seen me way too often lately :/.

That happened to me on Saturday and Sunday. They were regular and laying down didn't help, pretty uncomfortable. It felt like my false labor with my dd. But today I've been fine so maybe it's just our bodies knowing what to do already

I've had this off and on as well. Some days I have none and some days I have multiple back to back. When that happens I sit and chug a ton of water, even if I'm not thirsty, it usually solves it. And having too full of a bladder causes them, and sometimes emptying my bladder from very full to quickly nothing causes it. I have an irritable uterus though lol

When I have them its worrying. It's more or less 1-2 days in a row and super frequent. When I walk, when I sit too long, when I need to pee, in the morning in bed, at night. They are so frequent that my lower back starts hurting & I get menstrual pains. All pretty low on a pain scale, but worrying. My doc figures its an irritable uterus as well as it doesn't fit BH. I now really rest when it happens, hydrate & restrict my activity level.

Let the doctor know. Maybe they'll get you in fr a quick check (given yr kidney issues)

I have had about 5 check ups where I was put on the machine for the contractions. Mostly I did not have them when I had the appointment and when I had one small contraction it didnnot even pick up on it. They must be very weak

They don't increase or decrease depending on activity too. Friday I had a very active day after much bedrest and I did not have one, despite being exhausted. I can't be dehydrated since I drink 3 liters a day ^^...
BUT, I do feel like it has to do with bladder. Yesterday my bladder felt really weird. Like I wasn't able to empty it despite being full.

I don't get a back ache or cramps, just a mild tightening that does not last long but yesterday they were 20 seconds apart at some point...:nope: Seriously so weird.

I don't get back ache or cramps either. But it's probably your bladder irritating it. If they aren't strong enough to pick up on monitor I'd say they are fine! I am super active, I have to exercise daily and walk at least a mile a day! So I only rest when I'm getting them in bunches otherwise I'm just aware of them!!! I'm on a super strict VBAC preparation routine so I wouldn't restrict my activity, but that's just me. Especially since with my dd I was having even more than I am now and it never amounted to anything (and at every check my cervix has been at least 4+ long and closed) so I'm not worried for myself!

I would love a VBAC too and was very active until my kidney infection. But now I have to be on bedrest because I can no pee otherwise. The urine won't flow any other way :(
Not sure if I can be active again soon because the baby is still on my kidneys and urinary tract so it is always congested.

I'm a lot further behind you, but getting frequent braxton hicks. At least, I assume they are - it's tightenings that get tighter and tighter and last about 40 seconds, and come about every minute. Just like very mild contractions at the start of labour. Will last about 15-20 minutes then stop if I lie on my back. My midwife doesn't believe me so I am changing midwives, she's really annoying and thinks I'm being overly dramatic and won't reply to my messages.

Wow, is it strange that I don't have BH? I didn't realize how common it is. It's also my first baby tho

I've never had braxton hicks before, I don't even know if that is what I have, but it's the only explanation I can come up with. My uterus feels irritated. I've never had a baby vaginally, I did go into labour with my son but that ended in an emergency section.

You are still early. They can start around 22 weeks, and many women only have them towards the end or don't notice them at all. Mine started just past 22 weeks.

@minties
Wow what a midwife :/ it is a good idea to change. I changed my OB twice early on.
But that is pretty much what early BH feel like! I don't like them tbh, even though they don't hurt. At 25 weeks my uterus is only by the navel..so I feel the tightening fairly low.

Marumi, I've been keeping up with your kidney issues via the other thread. I'm sorry that seems so tough! Have you tried different positions to try to get baby to move? Perhaps there are adhesions around your uterus and bladder from your previous c-section causing all these issues?? I'd strongly recommend a good prenatal chiropractor, making sure you are in perfect alignment and possibly even doing the webster method to help loosen some ligaments to help baby into a better position. If nothing else it can't hurt!! I'm sorry you are dealing with all of this :(!!!

I think it's always best to get checked especially because of your hydronephrosis. I had irritable uterus in my last pregnancy and it was annoying. I went in often to make sure it was nothing and not dilating. Try tons of water and lay on your left side. If that doesn't work then go check it out xx

Because of the frequency and the fact that they're very short lasting, it sounds more like an irritable uterus than 'usual' BH's... Irritable uterus is very commonly caused by kidney/urinary infections - especially if baby is lying on it all too! Are you on antibiotics? :)

I didn't think that I ever had Braxton hicks with my first 3 pregnancies either, it wasn't until my midwife was checking baby on my 3rd and asked whether I could feel it that I realised that I did. She told me that every pregnant women gets them just not all can feel them.
Funny enough in my 4th pregnancy I could feel them, I think they started not long after 20 weeks. :)

I will look into that thanks! Atm I am only doing Yoga to get him in a better position. It isn't the worst as he is head down but just so far to the right right now, not making it any easier on my kidney. I will be seeing a midwife that is also a Naturopath soon too, since I was told she knows a few things about fetal positions.
