After being made to fear lying on my back in later pregnancy, I found this info comforting so thought I'd share:

Interesting! I am usually a side sleeper but since pregnancy have been rolling onto my back, which I try to avoid now because I have bladder and kidney problems.

I simply can not ly on my back at all without feeling major discomfort. Its like all my intestines are really sensitive right now and applying any pressure is like torture. It cuts of my breath & makes me feel sick. Luckily I'm a side sleeper by nature.

I had to sleep on my back my entire pregnancy with my son because side-sleeping gives me horrible hip/leg pain in late pregnancy. When I started to get big during the late second trimester, I would prop my head and back up on pillows and this helped quite a bit with the discomfort of back sleeping, but I was never able to side-sleep and DS was born 8 lb 11 oz, very healthy. I was worried about my need to back-sleep, and asked my doctor about it, and she was not concerned.

I've been waking up with pins and needles if I turn onto my back during the night. I usually fall asleep on my left side as I find this more comfortable, right side affects my acid reflux and back causes pins and needles and general discomfort.
I usually find the left side ok although this morning I woke up and my left arm and shoulder was quite painful. God knows how its going to be when I get bigger lol.
