Had an appointment with G.p yesterday to get him to refer me for a reassurance scan because i had tubal surgery in january and I am higher risk of ectopic. He said he would call the hospital today to arrange scan and that the hospital would call me back.
My G.p called me back and said that he called the hospital and they said that they would NOT do a reassurance scan because I havn't had a miscarriage or a previous ectopic and that I would have to wait until my 12 week dating scan or pay privately :hissy::hissy:
WTF............ he said that they were clamping down on the number of referals for early scans because of the amount requested.
So....I called the hospital to ask them why and they said " If your doctor has refered you for a scan then we cannot object"??????? I argued that I had just spoken to my G.p and relayed to her what he had told me and she basically said that he was talking BO....ks:hissy::hissy::hissy:
So hospital say I can have a scan as long as G.p refers me and G.p says that hospital said no!!!!!!!!!!
So either the hospital felt like winding me up at the time or my G.p is a total Fu....g lying bas...d!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Called my consultant to try and arrange a private scan and he is on holiday for the next 3 weeks :hissy::hissy:
So wtf do I do now.

sorry for the rant but I am seriously pissed off that they are taking this so lightly.

Sounds like your doc is making excuses for you not to go in if the hospital have said they'd see you ??!! Could be a financial thing... normally is when it comes to the NHS !! I hope you get it resolved though :hugs:

:hugs: I'm sorry, it sounds like you are getting the run around from the doctor and your hospital. Hope you can get something worked out so you can have your scan done.

niknaknat,
Can you call your doctor that did your tr and see if they can maybe call your gp to see if they can get it done sooner? You need to get in there and get it looked at. When you get your tr they tell you as soon as you get your bfp, to schedule the scan asap! So please call your doctor that did the surgery and see what they can do! Good luck! :hugs:
p.s. I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!

I have tried to call my consultant but he is on holiday and so it seems is his receptionist as all i got was her answer machine.
I know I might be coming across as a paranoid idiot but you will understand that i just want to know that everything is alright, I'm getting really quite stressed about it.
It's a good job the doctors surgery isn't open now because at the moment I could quite cheerfully kill the t..t!!!!!
Thankyou anne xxxxxx how are you anyway chick??:hugs:

Anne's right - you need that scan ASAP - I dont think Anne will mind me saying that one of the reasons she's been fortunate enough to keep her tube is because she had early scans and tests and thats been invaluable given the circumstances.
Make an appt with the Dr and tell then how anxious and stressed this is making you - they have a duty of care and they should do everything within reason to help reassure you. This is definately within reason given your history. Be polite but insistent. Anne may have an opinion on when the best timing would be - I think the first scan was fine but the second one was the one that picked up on the ectopic.
xx

managed to get my consultants mobile number and called on holiday:dohh:.
Made an appointment for next friday, he was very pleased to hear from me actually and said he was glad that I called but also said he was disgusted with the way my G.p had handled things( I agree). Apparantly he is back the midle of next week so it will actually be him that performs my scan which is good. I still can't get over the fact that my G.p blatently lied to me like that though, thats terrible:cry:

Thats excellent. Well done you !!! :happydance:

make a complaint speak to PALS about it... your GP sounds like he hasnt a clue to be honest

:hugs:You could always go to A&E (daytime) and say you feel weird????

Totally crap, the NHS...they just try and do as little as they have to...I experienced this on the weekend when my DH got taken in (he's ok now)...play them at their own game thats what i say!!! Use some of your National Insurance Contributions!!!!

Sorry to all those good Nurses/medical people out there...

Think I may be banned from my doctors now anyway...left them a nice message on their cancellations answer phone telling them excactly what I think of the NHS.....If you don't hear from me tomorrow then they have probably arrested me :rofl:

I agree with mervsmum 100%. But really quick I need to clear up something. The second scan determined that I was miscarrying. It looked as though it could have been an ectopic because of the fluid but it turned out that it was not an ectopic. If it was then I wouldn't have passed anything.
I am glad that you are able to get in within a reasonable period of time. Good luck! I am feeling better, thank you for asking. My numbers are down to 90 and the doctor told me that we can start trying again immediately! So i will be in here with all of you again really soon!
Please keep us updated on how it goes at the doctor! Good luck and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! :hugs:

Yeah will do hun....and hurry up will ya
I have good feelings about next month for you :hugs:

I too had a tr and it is very important to have a early scan but my DR. also keeps a eye on my hcg level, are you having blood drawn everyother day to make sure your numbers are doubling, those numbers can also let you know that your little bean is right where he/she is to be. Congrats on getting your bfp so fast, I wish you a happy and healthy nine months
