Has anyone tried it? Im terrified of needles but tried it today and was so proud of myself for overcoming my fear...i guess that happens when you want a baby! I was also given a combination of 15 herbs. I was told that they will help ti detoxify my system, he said as i am young 3 months should work. He said if i hadnt been on bcp for so long a couple of sessions probably would have been enough he said its all about getting the body into balance and making the stomach welcoming and warm for a child.

The downside...35 quid per session once a week!! I have medical insurance that will pay half of it...so thats not too bad but then gets worse the herbs cost 40 quid!!! For 1 week!!!!:dohh:](*,)

I cant afford that! I nearly died luckily i had enough money on me but i will have to say to him next week about it!

He looked at my tongue and said i was very stressed and put needles in my head for stress and needles in my stomach legs hands feet and knees! Could hadly feel it and i do feel relaxed...nearly sedate!

Just wondering has anyone else tried accupuncture before and has it helped them ttc?

I haven't tried acupuncture, but did go for a reflexology session a couple weeks ago. It cost 25 quid, and no herbs or anything are necessary. I think it works in a similar way to acupuncture, in that it helps to restore balance to the body. The reflexologist said that I don't have anything major to worry about, but can go back to her a week into my next cycle to try to give my ovaries a boost again.

That may be a cheaper alternative for you.

Good luck ttc

thanks! i am going to do a reflexology course next year as a hobby so i was thinking about it but there more evidence of accupuncture working o i think i stick at although im sure the reflexology is more enjoyable! the herbs nearly made me throw up!...stil feel sick ugh!

yuck ... if the herbs taste as bad as the ones you get for the chinese medicine shops then they will be gross ...

good luck

xx

i'm trained in auricular acupuncture (ear acupuncture) for drug and alcohol users and i've also had acupuncture on me for back problems years ago. Never for ttc, although i am seriously considering it.

Alot of my drug users had positive experiences, and i certainly haven't had back probs since. I know this doesn't directly answer your thread, but there is a definite element of positivity about the treatment. Yup, the herbs do taste cacky, but it's all about balancing the ying/yang and 'energy', and removing blockages and stuff.

Keep us posted, i defo hope it leads to a BFP hun!!!!!

xx x x x :hugs:

I'm currently having accupuncture once a week for my sciatica. I hate it, but it does seem to be helping. It costs me £55 a session, which I just can;t afford. tbh, I'm bunging it in the credit card every week. if it helps my back, I can pay it off after.

I have spoken to her about the fertility thing as well, and she said we can look into it after my backs sorted. Not sure if I can afford it though!:dohh:

Although.... I am in BUPA through work, so I'll have to ring them and see if I'm covered. I have a horrible feeling that I should have been referred to them by the gp, and not go off my own back. Grrr.

amanda, im with axa and all i had to do was check they were registered with the british acupuncture society (or something like that) then i pot the recepit to them so you should check! Why do you hate the accupuncture? Is it the needles?

Hi Carolina, I was having acupuncture up till about 1 month ago. It got too expensive. I was seeing a nutritionist and having it aswell. I do have a bit of a fear of needles and especially injections, not 'cos of the pain element but more associated with hygiene and cross infection. Once I know and trust the practitioner and I can see that they wash their hands and use clean needles(obviously) I'm ok. The Acupuncture that I have, though, Is Japanese it is the same as Chinese in that it does the same ie rebalancing yin / yang, but the needles are finer and the herbs they give you are in tablet form which for one is cheaper. I pay about £15 per pot which last ages, also the herbs are the same but are refined, purified etc and then made in tablet form. Being Japanese they have made it more refined and advanced. It still works. It made my periods more regular for a time but then it stopped working so because it was too expensive I stopped it. Want to try reflexology, have heard of some good results with this.

im going to ask about tablets to see if they are cheaper! How long were you getting accupuncture for and how often? My practitioner has a 70% success rate which is encouraging and even if it doesnt get me pregnant i think it will be good for my general health so im trying to see it like that! He told me it would take me about 3 months to work based on my circumstances but he seems to be confident so we shall see!

ive always wanted to try alternative therapies, i think they are great for the mind if nothing else! glad you ladies are posting your experiences, please continue sharing with us all so we may know the benefits and downfalls of both accupuncture and reflexology. i watched a show on reflexology the other day for ttc (a tiny portion of it was on ttc! HAHA) but it seemed very interesting, and if it works in my mind, then that is all it needs to do since my mind controls the body! so do keep us updates and i am still on testing for ovulation methods (the duofertility patch)! thanks ladies

I can't have acupuncture .... but every Tom, Dick and Harry have suggested it to me for RSD.... really, you'd think that people would have the sense to realise that I'd have looked into it by now.... *sigh* good luck to anyone who tries it xx
