Just wondering if anyone's tried both and if one works better than the other?
I really think I eat plenty of fiber, but I feel I might need some probiotics, too.

I. hate. this. constipation. soooo. much!

My son gets really constipated and Activia helps him more than Actimel.

Also, prunes or prune juice help a ton if you can get it down.

I'm absolutely caning prunes and prune juice. I've been eating half a tin in the morning, half a tin in the evening and a glass of juice midday.

I couldn't do it if not pregnant, I'd have the awful runs, but I've been so badly constipated that I've had no choice and it's definately helping some!! I've been able to go every day for 3 days and before it was "rabbit droppings" twice a week!

I've been having an Activia yogurt before bed and it seems to be working for me :]

you can get the activia with a layer of prunes on the bottom, or the ones with the fibre/cereal bits in them. I find they help xx

Are you drinking plenty of water? I'm finding that bog standard orange juice seems to keep things moving for me. Dehydration and slow digestion (totally normal in pregnancy) is what causes the congestion, not a perceived lack of the right sort of bacteria. If you think that is the problem then you need to get a colloidal supplement, which will get the bacteria to your gut without them being killed first by your stomach acid.

Eta, have assumed this is in pregnancy, but am on my phone so helpfully can't see which forum I'm posting in when I link to a thread from new posts!

Also, the basic plain live yoghurt has all those bacteria in it too, far less sugar and cheaper!

It's not dehydration that's causing this. I drink water all day long. Don't those of you who eat a bunch of prunes get the worst gas in the universe? Maybe I'll try prunes again, but it seems like I'd have to eat so many, and they're so full of sugar :( I really appreciate the tips, though. I may try plain yogurt.

I have had this for a while. Have you tried getting the Sunsweet brand individuality wrapped prunes? They seem to have less sugar.

Link so you can see what I am talking about lol.

I like activia as well. Seems to work pretty well. <3 I do not eat them very often however as it sends me into a reverse effect though. Maybe 1 or 2 x a week .

Mmm I love the Activia Fibres yoghurts. I checked in the supermarket the other day and the ones with prunes in actually don't have very much fibre in at all! But the ones with cereal in have loads. :D They're tasty too.

To the OP, I've been more constipated ever since bubs engaged. I do manage a BM every day but I used to have 2 or 3! I just can't anymore no matter what I eat or how much water I drink. So, I blame baby. :haha: I think his head is squishing something and making it hard to go!

The only suggestion I have is to go for plenty of walks. That's supposed to help keep things moving. :)

I get a belly ache from activia, not sure why. Lots of water, pineapple, oats and prune juice works great when you're constipated.

Uve actually only had bad farts one time from all the prunes!!! It's not been too bad.

the only place i've found them though is sainsburys, and I do most of our shopping in tesco, so have to go out of my way (not too far though!) to get the yoghurts that I like!! Tesco and asda seem to have every other variety of activia, just not the fibre ones!!

sunsweet prune juice is what i swear by and from the extensive googling i've done the juice will work better than the prunes themselves :), especially for making the poos softer!

God it's disgusting though!
