I've made LO a load of fruit and veg purees from the annabel kamel book. My HV advised I added some baby rice to the purees to give them more substance. Has anyone done this? Do I just mix in a bit of baby rive to the purees, or do I make it up with milk then mix them together? x

I'd just add it to the purée, and if it thickens it up too much add a dash of water to the right consistency.

I think its good for bulking out newer tastes... and blands them down a bit.. On the day of trying a new fruit or vegetable I tend to add a spoonful of rice.. Then the next day go without it... TBH I am crap at making the rice it always has lumps in it! :O( X

I used to do that all the time when DD was just on the fruit and veg purees, was handy with the runnier ones especially

I dident bother and really there is no need to add it. All it does is bulks it out and makes it blander but the point of weaning is to get them use to new tastes and textures and if you add baby rice to everything it kind of beats the point, it also gives a lot of baby's constipation.

I did just because Preston didn't like fruits without it because they were so thin, he liked it thickened up. I just added it straight to the puree...I did mostly use oatmeal though since it has a bit more substance than rice.
