Hello :flower: My DH and I have been trying for that illusive BFP for 18 mths. I have taken much strength from reading the posts in the LTTC section for a while now and wanted to ask you all a question regarding my own situation.

I had abdominal surgery in June 2008 resulting in an ileostomy. After all the usual tests, DH is fine as is my blood work etc, I had an HSG which showed open tubes but one ovary is stuck to my uterus and FS says due to adhesions we will need IVF.

Has anyone heard of/had an experience similar to this? I cannot believe we don't have any chance of it happening naturally when the tubes are both open? What do you think?

Thank you and :dust: to all xx

'fraid so. Both my tubes are open but I have one ovary stuck to my bowel with adhesions (I was operated on in November to release it - they have not freed it completely) and my womb is also stuck to my bowel with adhesions. IVF is now my only option but we start the treatment in February (they gave me a down-regulation jab in the bum immediately after the op).

I hope this helps :hugs:

yes same with me only my bowel was stuck to my tube due to endo. it was been seperated . im having HSG on wed but have started treatment for IVF..

do you have endo?

.
do you have endo?

I have, yes. I was diagnosed 10 years ago with very mild (almost not worth mentioning!) but now I am stage 4 ....after my op in November, I was really happy with the outcome - I've not had any niggles at all...until now (I have got horrendous lower back pain and I think it might be the endo - only thing that is worrying me, the jab they gave me has stopped my cycles but now I am scared about the lower back pain when they start up again - cos they are killing me now)

thats a bum isnt it!

maybe you need another lap to get rid of the endo. this may help with IVF as well. Some people prefer not to have it removed and do IVf anyway - depends how u feel. My cons was glad i had it done

BTW on one of the recent posts about 'a miracle and not giving up'..

a lady said she had 2 BLOCKED tubes and was waiting for IVF and she got preg naturally. HOW THE HECK did that happen??? So it could happen it just depends on how long you wanna wait..

Here is the post,....

it under 'Lap and Dye'

Hello. I had one november 08. I had a scan before that showed both tubes blocked so they wanted a look. The op its self was less than an hour. I had to go in night before so partner wasnt allowed with me before i went in as it wasnt visiting times. I didnt end up going down till 5pm so i had to staty in night after as well. They put a camera inside to look around and insert dye in your tubes. I got the results the next morning. The biggest scar i have is in my belly button so very discret. I had 2 weeks off. The 1st week was quite painful to move. I felt like all my tummy had been streached. The stitchs didnt hurt at all. I didnt bleed after but you do lose some blue dye. But that stopped by time i went home. I got some sholder pain from the air. If they find something small im sure they would sort it out for you while your under.

My results where that i had pcos and 2 blocked tubes. I was told i could never conceive for this reason. So was out on list for ivf. We had never tried to conceive so we just didnt use anything. 6 month later i conceived. 14 months later im 30 weeks pregnant. Im not sure how or why but figured that the lap must of helped.

Its totally worth it. Good luck

I didn't know you needed IVF for adhesions!? I had a lap in July and they found lesions and adhesions on my ovaries and bowels, but the doctor said it wudnt affect TTC, but then when I went to a follow-up appointment at my doctor a week later, she gave me leaflets about endo!? The doctor at hospital hadn't even mentioned that, and I've now had a MC in October, and a chemical pregnancy last week, could it be related?

Thank you all for your replies!

Love that story, it certainly gives me hope. I guess I just don't know enough (anything!) about how the ovaries and fallopian tubes work - I keep thinking surely it just needs one egg to float in the right direction!?!

I don't know the answer to your question Lizzie and I'm awfully sorry for your losses. In your case the eggies and spermies are obviously meeting up though so that is a good start! Maybe make an appt with your doctor at the hospital to discuss it further?

Good luck with your IVFs, Hev and Muncho. We have our 'planning' meeting in 2 weeks so hopefully will not be too far behind you...
