Hey

I know this is quiet common and it also happened to me as a kid. My adult bottom teeth began to emerge behind my baby ones. I had to have all four bottom teeth removed by a dentist as they wouldn’t come out themselves.

My 6 year old top front tooth has been wobbly since February and it’s been getting more loose but just won’t come out! Yesterday evening I looked and was shocked to discover his permanent tooth emerging right behind it! The baby tooth is very loose now and has come off one side. What can we do now? I’ve never seen this happen with the top ones even by google searching.

My son is really stressed and crying any time we mention the tooth. His really scared of the tooth falling but at the same time he really wants it gone :/

Any tips ?

Poor guy. Do you think it will come out soon by its self? If so I'd be inclined to leave it unless it's bothering him too much. I remember as a child pulling one of my own teeth out that was loose. It was much more raw and painful and took longer to heal than the ones I left to come out naturally so I didn't do it again! If it's bothering him, do you think it would be easy to pull out yourself? If you decide on that you probably have to be quick and decisive about it. If it looks too hard to pull out or is bothering him too much to leave then it should be quite easy for a dentist to do. It won't be as bad as a normal tooth extraction seeing as it is already loose. If it isn't coming out on its own obviously don't leave it forever because it is getting in the way of the grown-up tooth and could cause squint teath.

Thanks for replying :)

I don’t think I will dare try pull it out. He doesn’t even let me touch and is so scared. His been wobbling it most of the day so I hope it will come off this week if not I’ll make a dentist apppointment and see what they can do x

I don’t think I would do anything. I also had my adult bottom incisor come up behind the baby one, which eventually fell out and the adult one moved into place. Your situation with having to have them removed is very much not the norm. If his tooth is wobbly then it will eventually fall out, especially if he’s wiggling it. I always used to wiggle my wobbly teeth obsessively until the fell out. If it’s making him cry to mention it, then just don’t mention it. You’re probably stressing him out! Give it some good time and it’s more than likely to resolve itself.

Yes zephram my situation defo wasn’t the norm because my baby tooth just wouldn’t fall out itself. My sons teeth is very very wobbly so I’m just gonna lesve it. I really hope the adult tooth can move forward into it’s place.

I told him it’s okay and it will definitely fall out :)

We have just had this but with my 5 year olds bottom teeth. Both adult teeth cake through. Her baby ones were a bit wobbly. I couldn’t get a dentist appt for a few weeks so kept encouraging her to wobble them. Both teeth fell out within 2 days of each other. The adult ones seemed so far back I was worried about how it would all align but over a month they are all coming together really well. I know it’s more common with the bottom ones but hopefully it’ll be the same with the top. Keep encouraging the wobbling until you get to the dentist!

Both my sons adult front teeth came in behind his baby ones. We happened to have a check up booked when the first one was about to come out and he said it’s very common and the adult one will push forward once the baby one falls out. I think my son wiggled his and played with it until it came out!
