Hi,:hi:

This is my situation. My husband and I have decided to try for baby number 2 (my little boy is 2.5 years old) and so I have been checking out this website and trying to work out my cycle and when might be my O day.

I think I've got to grips with it and should've O'd around 2nd Feb, with af due around 16th Feb (cycle normally 34 days). Thing is, I haven't told anyone at all that we are TTC and we have a small weekend trip booked for this weekend (fly out on 8th Feb) with MIL, FIL, SIL and her husband - my little boy is staying with my mum, it has already been suggested by SIL and BIL that we can have a really good drink one night whilst we are there. I can't test before we go as it'll be too early and I don't want to tell them that we are TTC, but I don't want to drink either, incase I might be pg. It's gonna look so sus if I don't drink, what can I say to them???!

My husband keeps telling me to just tell them (but I don't want to) or to just drink, that it'll be ok - but I really don't want to just in case! What excuses can I use?!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

p.s - sorry for the long message

say ure not feeling well, or u taking some medicine that you cant drink with ?

Id go with the medicine excuse.
A drink or two really wont do any harm, lots of people get shloshed out of their skulls only to find theyre pg and the baby has been fine.

I have thought about saying I'm on medication but it seems too obvious, I think they'll see thru it. They would know if I'm on antibiotics or something. I'm just not very good at lying and I'm really worrying about what to say to them.

My SIL and BIL came round last Friday and had some wine with them. I said I didn't want any as I had a cold and was tired (which was true) and my BIL was saying 'oh I bet you're pg, there'll be an announcement soon'. I know everone's expecting me to say something soon as my little boy is 2 and a half now, but I just don't want everyone to know that I'm TTC.

honestly if it gets too much and ppl ask a million questions just tell them if you had something to tell them u would. ppl can be really annoying about this.

You're taking antibiotics and can't drink.

One of my friends pretended to drink, filled a beer bottle with something else and sipped on it the whole night, nobody noticed. Could use sparkling water and say it's vodka and tonic.

Your doctor told you not to drink because of "insert something plausible here".

You just had a massive headache and took painkillers you shouldn't mix with alcohol.

You had THE worst hangover the other day and you don't want it again.

You're on some new diet and it involves no alcohol.

Tell them you are antibiotics and can't drink any alcohol!

Get OH to always get you drink, say fresh orange and say it is Vodka and orange, If BIL or SIL get you one it won't do any harm

I was drunk really drunk before i found out i was PG with Emily and Jack, literally the weekend before and they are both fine

I think it happend to a lot of women as AG says

Thanks for everone's help. I have said to OH that he could get my drinks all night and pretend it's vodka and lemonade or whatever, but he said that then everyone else would wanna get me drinks too and get me the same. He hasn't been the most helpful with this situation!

I must admit, before I knew I was pg with my LO I got reallt drunk twice and he's absolutely fine (and perfect!)

I just hate the fact that I might have to tell them, or defend myself all weekend, it is so annoying. I think I will just say that if I had news then I would tell them - as has been suggested.

Thanks for all your advice, I hope I don't get heckled all weekend and that I can just relax and enjoy myself!

the less of a big deal you make of it, the better. Just say "I'm not really in the mood to drink tonight. I'll have a coke".

If you decide to have one or two drinks I don't think it would be TOO bad, but if you really don't want to drink at all I would agree with everyone else, with saying you have a headache and don't want the alcohol to annoy it, or that you are on a medication that doesn't mix well with alcohol, or you don't feel like dealing with a hangover the next morning and just want to relax with a coke or OJ or cranberry juice (insert drink of choice there lol)

Good luck, I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend and the questions are minimal!! :)
