hi all, just after a bit of advice really.

A couple of weeks ago we were visiting my brother in London (we live near Manc) and his wife & their 1 year old. They very kindly offered to give us their travel system (Loola up) temporarily and said they would want is back when they have another baby. Although i was looking foreward to shopping for a buggy/pram etc and I did really want something new, i swallowed my pride and accepted it, my practical brain saying it will save us a good few hundred quid.

and so my parents (also visiting at the time) piled it all up in their car and brought it home for us, its now sitting in our dining room.

Yesterday my brother rang me to say his wife is pregnant again and that they would want the travel system back in time for the February due date.

Now im due November 2nd, meaning i wouldnt be able to switch to lightweight stroller so soon, and so we will have to near enough buy a new system anyway. My thinking is we should buy a new system NOW and give my brother back his (a lot of faff as we have to get it back to London again) plus it takes up a lot of room.

Hubby thinks we should use it until January and then buy something.

I am a bit annoyed with my bro because if they knew they were trying for another baby (last time they concieved straight away) why did they give it away in the first place!!

just wondered what you guys think i should do - new system now or new system in January ?

Ooh tough one. I would say for the sake of 2 months I would go pram shopping now, ou where looking forward to that aspect anyway, and at least you get something you want and is shiny and new. Also how would you feel if anything happened to the pram, something broke of it? Not worth the hassle hun.

If you can afford to buy a new one now, I think I'd do it and give your brother's back.

Why not wait till January and get a new one in the sales hun xx Typical annoying brothers! xxx

i would just go get a new one now and give them their one back. its easier for you in the long run cuz then you wont have to swap travels systems after a couple months and get used to a new one

i would buy new NOW! if financially you can swing it of course. knowing my luck in the short time i borrowed it, i would mess it up, spill something on it or something and have them angry and be buying that one too. or better yet, there will be something wrong with it that i didn't even do, still get the blame, and still have to pay for it out of common courtesy . sucks but you get to pick out a new one you want for just you now. look at it as something fun!!!!!!!!

i loaned a very expensive $500 baby bed to a friend and she didn't return it and moved about 900 miles away. took it with her which was wrong in the first place but then it was destroyed in the move. my hormones made it even worse. i cried and was really angry. didn't really say much to her. we are still friends. in fact, her water broke about an hour ago and her baby is coming today by section! so yeah, i'm not one to borrow and loan out anymore. i have the offer to borrow a bed, mattress, and all the bedding to go with it and i just won't do it. i know my baby boy will chomp on the rails or something and i will end up buying it anyway. might as well buy new and have some fun!!! lol

I would get a new one, my son was a big baby and he was still in his carseat that came with the travel system for 4 or 6 months (cant remember exactly) and if you have to buy a new one, I would buy it so you get full use out of it and it will be harder once the baby is here to come up with the money

thanks all ladies for the advice - i now have some evidence to go to hubby to persude him :-) ill talk to bro, but i think we wil prob end up having 2 in out house for a while!!!! typical!!

new now.
to be honest your going to need one anyway, so why not have new for your baby.
plus if you were to damage/add wear to it, would they be okay with that?

personaly, i'd rather give them it back, say thanks, but get another one. xx

I'm another vote for new now!

Like many have said if it gets broken or damaged you will feel obliged to replace or repair it.

As your baby is due in November and your brother wants their system back in February it hardly seems worth it (although it was a nice offer)

Your only problem is which system to chose!

I would just get a new one now, if you're going to end up having to buy one you might as well use it from the start.

You'd probably get a better bargain in January in the sales, but have you thought about looking on e-bay? I know we would all love to have brand new for LOs but if you're on a tight budget like us than e-bay is a godsend! We got a 2 year old, used once and looks brand new Graco Quattro Tour Sport (what a mouthful!) on e-bay for £45 when it would have been £390 brand new.

Buy new.
Its not worth it for the sake of three months...plus what happens if you accidentally break his pram?
Plus now you have to go shopping for a brand new one! It'll be easier to shop without having to take your newborn along with you!
