Hey ladies

I wonder if you can help me.
Will try to keep brief. But i returned to work on the 2nd January 2012 after being on maternity leave for 9 months.

Since being back at work there has been little work and i am not sitting doing nothing most of day. It was announced last week they were looking for voluntary reduncies from certain staff (myself not included in this meeting) howevre i am worry due to the face i am sitting around doing nothing! that they will make me redundant or cut my hours.

While on maternity thye had a lady cover my job temporarily, however they have kept her on in another role.

Can they do this? Surely if there isnt enough work for me and they need to get rid of me they should have offered me her position. ps this position of no work has been going on for months even when other lady was covreing.

Thanks for advice in advance

Lyndsay

Roles are made redundant not people. Unfortunately now you are back from leave there are no additional protections against redundancy or anything that gives you a higher priority for redeployment within the company than any other staff member :(
