Hi there!
I was made redundant a month before I found out I was pregnanat and have been looking for a job since, to no avail.
I am claiming JSA and this stops at the end of September.
Does anyone know if or what benefit I could claim from September? I will be about 6 months pregnanat then.
Is anyone else in my position? Really stressed out with it all as no one will employ a pregnant lady so im doubtful I will find a job anytime soon.
Any advice, help or website links with info would be great.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post!

Hi there,

I was made redundant at 23 weeks pregnant and got a job, so there is definitely hope for you there!

I'm not sure about the benefit side of things, they wouldn't give me jsa because I'm married and then wouldn't give me the alternative because the year they go back to in NI payments I hadn't paid enough (I was a full time student but that apparently means nothing!)

You'll get maternity allowance but that will start nearer to your due date. Have you spoken to someone at the job centre? They were good to me (even when I kicked off and made a show of myself when they told me that I wasn't entitled to anything and that I'd have to go and get a loan!) the job centre also told me no one would hire a pregnant woman (discrimination) and I proved them wrong!

Citizens advice are also a good source.

Xx
