advice needed on urologist's last appointment

Hi there,
I'm in a bit of a muddle and really dont know what to do!! My husband had an appointment the other day with his urologist. It was an appointment to discuss his ultrasound. He has low sperm count and motility. Anyhow the doctor mentioned being referred to a fertility clinic and when he said this I said we had already been referred to one by my gyne and had had our first appointment in the clinic. So basically when I said this he kind of closed my husband's chart and didnt ask us to come for any other appointment or any more tests and he didnt give us any advice!!! He just said to keep trying and it was our decision if we wanted to go down the assisted route!! I'm just confused now cause is that all the urologist can do to examine my husband - a few blood tests and a scan???? Is there no other tests that should be performed??? He mentioned a dye being inserted to see if there are any blockages but once the fertility clinic came into the conversation he didnt say any more about that procedure!! Should I ring his office and ask can we have another appointment as we are unclear of where to go from here??? Like of course we would love to get pregnant naturally and if there are other tests out there that will help us we would get them done before starting ivf or icsi!!!! Any advice????

I'm sorry wishful thinkn that you didn't get the support from the urologist. Did your OH count came back really bad?

I think in the most majority, there isn't a known reason for a bad count, or even when one can be identified, it can't be resolved. the gyneacologist didn't even suggest a referral to the urologist when his SA came back with lowish count. I think -but could be wrong- that they would be more likely to investigate if it came back with a nil count.

However, if he did mention further investigations initially, then yeah, I would definitely get back to him as he might have misunderstood and assumed that the fact you were going through a fertility specialist meant that you were going the assisted conception route and there was therefore no point in his being further involved.

Thanks FBbaby, that's what myself and dh were thinking. Then i felt guilty for opening my mouth about the fertility clinic and should have just sat back and listened to what the urologist was saying!!! Just want my dh to know that there defo is no reason or 100% cure for it cause i really think that he believes a miracle is gonna happen!!!

As for dh's count and motility - in february the count was 2.7 million and motility 11% and in April it was 7.3 million and 15% motility.

But to be honest I was getting a bit annoyed about the way the urologist was speaking about the fertility clinic - saying "oh they've suggested the dearest option for u". And then i think they were giving my dh false hope by saying "Your count is ok, it's not the worst we have seen!! All u need is one" A normal count is 20 million not 2 or 7 million. We are way off having an ok count and then the ones that dh has arent great swimmers!!! I would love to be able to get pregnant naturally with dh but there is a very slim chance that it will happen naturally for us and i really dont want to waste years trying if we need to get help now. I'd rather get the ball rolling!!!

Sorry for the rant - just need to know where we are going from here. Feel like I'm in limbo at the moment!!!!
