hi girls im looking for some advice on behalf of my friend.
She recently had a wee boy but due to placenta eruption at 7 months he sadly passed away. she has been given the all clear to try again and got her first positive test last week, hospital took bloods for HCG which were 36 2 days alter were 66 but 3 days later were 48. They said shes suffereing a misscarriage and to wait for it to come away, but so far nothing has happened. she did a clear blue digi test today, (a week after 1st positive) and it said pregnant, 1-2 weeks. hospital said to still wait. any one been thru this and what was the outcome. she really needs answers, shes been thru so much

hi ash, sorry to hear your friend is going through such a tough time.

I would take it that the hospital know what they are talking about though and if they say she is suffering a mc then in all probability that's what is happening.

From my experience i had positive HPTs all the way through my first 12wks but when i went for my scan they said the baby hadn't gone past 7wks so I had had a mmc. It is possible that things will progress naturally but i had an erpc as i didn't look like i was going to mc any time soon.

I was told that I had a mc and two weeks later the hcg was all over the place, and it was actually an ectopic. they were so late in diagnosing it it ruptured and I nearly died. I would never take a hospitals word for it now, especially as there is no definitive test, and they tend to adopt and waiting and see (if you fall over) approach.

I was suggest that she continues to get her betahcg checked every 2 days........ good luck. XX

Sorry about your friend, hun.

hcg should double in pregnancy every 48 hours, if her hcg has gone down that's not good news unfortunately.

a pregnancy test may stay positive due to the falling hormones still around.

She may need another blood test and scan to comform a MC. As said above, she may need a erpc proceedure if things don't come away naturally.
