Hi ladies,

I'm overdue with baby number 3, was due 4th August but stubborn little madam is too comfy!

Baby has been engaged 4/5 for around a month or so now and after my 41 week appt today she still hasn't moved from that. Plus, had an examination and cervix couldn't be reached properly for a sweep so my body and this baby definitely isn't ready yet! My date of induction is Sunday 16th which is only a few days away. I've never been induced before so any advice or similar experiences & outcomes greatly appreciated as I am pooping myself at the moment with worry!

With baby number 1 went 8 days over, no sweep, went into labour naturally and had ventouse delivery. With baby number 2 I had a sweep at one day over but baby didn't show til 7 days after due date. Went into labour naturally, no assisted delivery. Both babies were 2 hrs labours from first contraction to birth, so knowing I may have to be induced is completely alien to me after having quick natural deliveries previously!

Thanks for reading x

I was induced with first...tell me what questions you have and I'll try and help :flower:

Hey thanks for the reply :-)

Just curious bout the whole process to be honest! Just wanna be prepared incase baby doesn't come before sunday.

And also I suppose I'm wondering if I will go into labour quickly once they start me off as my other 2 were quick but I don't suppose there's an answer for that as every labour and birth is different haha! Do they tend to be longer though? I would hate to have a labour that takes hours or even days after my 2 quickies lol x

Induction is a mixed bag...varies according to individual. My body showed no signs of labour and baby had disengaged her head when I was induced. Yet I came on quick from pessary and had 12 hour labour which would likely have been shorter had I not gone for epidural. The difference between induction and natural labour is your body has it sped up and in my experience doesn't have as much chance to prepare. My first was induced and 8lb 5 and that labour was by far worse than my second who arrived hours before induction and was a 10lb baby. With my second my body adapted to the pain and I only needed a little gas and air to get through. I don't say this to scare you as realistically as you've laboured before you'd likely only need pessary or gel to get things moving then they'd likely progress from there as like your other ones

Oh edited to add the reason I had to have epidural was I progressed but not quick enough for their liking as there was meconium in water so I was put on drip and that is what made things progress fast. Had I just had pessary I'm sure it would have been more manageable

Wow sounds like such a long process, not looking forward to it if I have to be started off.. well done on the 10lb-er! My 2 were 8 lb 3 then 9lb 8, hinting this one will be in between as I don't feel as heavy as I did with number 2 :/ who knows haha.

I had contractions starting at 8.30 pm last night starting at 15 minutes apart, went down to 10 mins apart around midnight and over the course of this morning have gone somewhere between 8-5 mins apart.

Not used to having this long drawn out wait, but at least I can be more prepared than I was with the other 2 I suppose! Here's hoping bubby turns up before induction day!

:-D x

Baby number 3 arrived yesterday at 3.42 pm weighing 9lb 2oz :-)

So so glad I didn't have to be induced after all but thanks for the heads up anyway! Just wanted to prepare myself for the 'what ifs' :-D

Xx

Congratulations! Glad you avoided induction. Sounds like baby just needed a little more time.
