Renting and having a baby

hey ladies,

im popping over from first tri with a question about renting.

Do any of you rent rather than own a house? If so, how and when did you approach your landlord, how was the info received? How has it been going with a baby as a renter?

We rent and it has never been a problem. Some landlords are weird about it but if you ask them they're usually happy just to get tenants and will say it's fine, that's what happened with us.

We rent, it's fine. We actually move whilst pregnant and most places specify if children or pets are allowed. Our landlord is fine. We have wall stickers to decorate lo's room as we obviouslyvcan't paint but tbh we would just have Plain walls anyway and our house is plainly decorated as most houses are.
Tbh I don't have any difficulties renting and having a baby, you choose a house based on your needs and budget same as you would if you were buying. Most dining rooms have laminate floors so cleaning up when weaning is easy peasy too.

Unless you live somewhere babies/children aren't allowed and are paying the rent I don't think it's anything to do with your landlord? I've always rented and never told a landlord that I'm pregnant!

We rent, never asked permission from my landlord to get pregnant and would tell him to do one if he came here and said I couldn't have kids A lot of landlords don't mind children being in the home, just stay away from those who say no kids allowed.

We moved while I was pregnant, so our current landlords were well aware that a baby was on the way. We also moved into an apartment building full of families! I know some gated communities and probably apartment buildings don't want children in them, but I think that would be clear from the get-go?

When we signed our rental agreement, we noticed that it was for "two occupants" so we did check to make sure that they were knew the baby was going to live there too They just wanted to wait to add her till she was born, which was fine with us

I told my landlord a couple of months before she was due as wanted to renew contract and they had no problem.

I'm a landlord and there is no reason why i'd need my tenants to tell me, the agreement usually states immediate family. If you're claiming benefits though the addition of a child has an impact on the amount so you must advise the council when the baby is born.

I'm back in my own house now, but I rented while I was pregnant and until Holly was 8 months old. It wasn't a problem at all, nobody seemed to mind. x x

yeah some landlords are weird they dont want kids because they chewing things and peeing on the carpet like a dogs jokin but really some of them are like that here but i think that child is your responsibility and u the one paying rent and if anything get damaged u paid bond as a security to the property

thanks for all the replies, no one seems to think its an issue, i guess iworry because at my last place, the landlord lived upstairs and when it came up that we were ttc she said she didnt want us there during the day while she was working (long story, i dont live there anymore!!)

Hey! I rent and just let my landlord know early on—I was honest about expecting, and they were super understanding; so far, having a baby as a renter has been totally manageable with a little planning. It helps to keep communication open and be upfront about any needs or concerns.

I rent my place and told my landlord early about the pregnancy my wife; they were very understanding and flexible. Life with a baby as a renter is manageable with proper planning.
