I know current advice is not to make bottles up in advance but as this isn't practical for night feeds I usually make a few up then keep them at the back of the fridge. The problem is that I made them up as normal tonight then put them in a sink of cold water with an ice pack to cool down before putting them in the fridge BUT I forgot about them and they were left in the sink for just over 45 mins!! (I usually leave them no longer then 10-15 mins to cool).

Do you think they would be ok? Or would you wash sterilise and make again? I know you should discard made up feeds after one hour so do you think they would be ok as long as I used them as soon as I heat them up? Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

Personally I have done this a few times before. Made up bottles, put them to cool in cold water and forgot about them! If they have been cooling for longr than 15-20 mins then I will discard them and wash, sterilise and make up a fresh batch. Better safe than sorry. xxx

I have never thrown made up formula out unless it's been out of the fridge for longer than 2 hours. I've always done it and noels never been sick from it.

I would discard. Realisticly above poster, if you say you use it if its not been out for more than 2 hours so say its been out for almost 2 hours. when milks been in the fridge and then you bring it out to warm you have to use it within 15 minutes then discard. if its been out for almost 2 hours then you put it back in the fridge then warm etc then it has been made and been out in total of plus 2hours but the max is use within 2 hours so doesnt that mean you have been using it past the max time? which isnt the safest? just wondering. I am not expert but thats what i thnk.

Good point! I'll keep a closer eye on times in the future!

Good hun :) Also dont know if you knew that when you make it in the fridge you have 15 minutes to use it once its been taken out the fridge. I know some people still think its the use within 2 hour rule but thats only for made fresh :) x congrats on your baby i saw your los onlya month old ! :)

Thanks! It's pretty disappointing the amount of info you get given on ff .

i agree with you hun, i didnt know most of what i just said till a few weeks ago and ive been ff for about a month now and didnt have a clue. and even tho i exclusvly pumped for 6 months my health visitor stil refused to give me the right innfo on how to prepare bottles etc as she said it would mean shes promoting formula feeding! its like u stupid cow my nipples are cracked im pregnant i can not pump anymore and im trying to do the best i can and its better you tell me how to make it so my daughter doesnt get ill. but she just said " do what you think is best"..
