So here I am today cd3 and back to square one again for another month.

So a little background - I was 33 when I conceived Belle, 1st cycle. I was 37 when I conceived Poppy 1st cycle. Poppy was stillborn 27th April. I then fell pregnant again at 38 and that was 2nd cycle trying, but miscarried at 6 weeks.

So now we are into 4th cycle trying again, and I never thought it would take this long, I guess going by previous track record I (perhaps naively) thought I would fall quicker than this. Now I am 39 (just! birthday was last weekend) but I am so aware that I will be 40 next year I feel I have a ticking time bomb for some reason.

So my cycles seem to be getting shorter lately. Since I had Poppy they have been 29, 29, 29 (then mc) 33, 25, 28, 29, 27, 26 days so a little bit all over the place. The last 2 months I tried opk's and especially last month thought I'd got +ve and bd at the right times!! But obviously not. So now I'm just thinking there's something wrong. I've not done any temping or anything else.

SO my main question is should I go see my gp yet or will they just tell me to try a few more months before coming back.

Thanks all! xxx

First of all, I am sorry for your losses. :flower:

If it would give you peace of mind to go to the dr, then I say try. Even if they tell you to come back when it's been 6 months, you should get a little advice! Or, they may do a few initial tests to check out hormones, etc.

I would also say that you have been pretty fortunate to get pregnant quickly several times. It just may take awhile. That's normal albeit frustrating. And in terms of cycle length, I think miscarriages can cause cycle wonkiness for a number of cycles. It could also be a sign your cycle is changing, or it could be coincidence.

Good luck to you!!

Thank you for your reply. Have been talking things over with oh and we have decided to try another month and see what happens, we are going to make a few lifestyle changes and see if that helps. I am thinking of not doing opk's again next time as I think it was maybe overcomplicating things a bit and making me obsess a bit too much, whereas I never really had that before!

That’s a good choice, Natnee. I would also suggest waiting for few cycles before taking official advice. It may naturally take some time, especially after miscarriage your cycle can mess up to a great extent.

I can understand complicating thing by using OPKs, they are actually pretty tricky. But you can definitely keep a watch on other things that might help you to understand that you’re ovulating. First is, your CM. Regularly checking both the amount and appearance of mucus in vagina can increase chances of getting pregnant over first six month period. Quit unhealthy activities like smoking, drinking.eat baby-friendly diet that includes lots of fresh organic food; it will help you absorb key antioxidants and nutrients that are beneficial when trying to conceive and reduce intake of pesticides, which have a negative impact of fertility. Hope it helps.
