Hi everyone

I'm Aly and me and my OH have been ttc for 3 years but it tooj me a while to recognise that there could be something wrong.
I was diagnosed with PCOS and my cycles are very irregular, I can skip upto 3 afs at a time, and I'm not sure wether or not I ovulate every time.
I'm just looking for some advice on how I could regulate my cycles naturally and maximise our chance of conceiving? Im not on any medication, I tried metformin but it made me so sick that my doctor took me off it.
I hope this made sense, I'm new to all the 'technical' talking.

Thank you for reading :flow:

Also if I am still unable to conceive then what would be the next step?
Really appreciate any advice.or insight anyone could give.
I feel so alone, I don't knowanyone else with PCOS in my situation, I'm terrified that I'll never be able to have a family x

First, join this site www.soulcysters.net. It's been a God send for me, so much info, there's loads on natural remedies on there if you aren't ready to try medication like clomid.

I tried all sorts of supplements, to not much avail, until I started seeing an acupuncturist, who prescribed me Chinese herbal remedies as well as acupuncture. After a cople of months with him my AF started coming regularly, about every 35 days.

I am now on clomid also as have been trying 18 months and felt ready to move on. I am sticking with the acu though, it really works, as long as you find someone experienced with PCOS.

Thanks so much. I'll definately have a look on that website.
I've heard quite a lot about.accupuncture and it seems really good, going to have a look into it if its worth it.
X

Hi Aly!
PCOS really stinks! That is a bummer about Metformin, I know some people have good luck with extended release met. Is that an option? I know for me the met really helped and so did losing weight. My cycles went from 50+ days to pretty regular at 34-35 days now. I have also been trying to eat a low carb, low GI diet and that seems to help. I read the PCOS Diet and it was very good! I hope you are able to bring your PCOS under control. Good luck!

hi aly :) hope you don't mind me posting when I'm not TTC anymore!

I cut meat and dairy out of my diet and started eating generally healthier around the same time as i started taking soy isoflavones and my cycles become ovulatory and shorter! have you tried soy? :) I took it for three cycles then the following one was natural and 28 days  my shortest one before that without soy was 53!

have you seen a doctor yet? I was diagnosed with PCOS by my GP then referred to the assisted conception unit where I did three monitored cycles of letrozole. we were referred for ICSI straight away because my OH has sperm issues. I'm not sure how it works in your area because its different everywhere but I would see the GP to try and get a referral as waiting times for appts etc are quite long so you can still try naturally in the meantime :)

hope I've answered everything! you will be a mum, don't worry :hugs: I thought the same xxxx

I found that losing weight and a low GI diet helped to regulate my af.....i managed to regulate at about 28 days per cycle for a year. The cycle I got pregnant (sadly ended in mc) it was first month of taking a complete break from ttc, although didn't go back on bcp, around this time I also made sure I drank over 2 liters of water a day and cut down on tea. Who knows if that is what finally worked.

Definately join soulcysters, its invaluable for help, as is this site.

Good luck

Hi

There are lots of different things you can do for pcos. But I'm not one for natural remedies, so I can't really comment on that but, I swear by metformin. I had four rounds of ivf and on the forth one I used metformin for several months before starting as the consultant said it hels with egg quality and we had the best embryos we had ever had, my cycles regulated and I lost weight. I felt I'll at first but did stick with it. We only had icsi due to my pcos combined with oh seriously bad sperm count. Otherwise we would have tried more clomid and ovarian drilling. There's lots that can be done for pcos so keep your chin up x

hello! afraid I had no luck with natural remedies. agnus castus made me so nauseous, and soy had no effect at all. I don't ovulate myself very often (only once confirmed in 12 months ttc) so I'm now on clomid and I'm praying it works. ask your doc for bloods to check for ov,i am very irregular and my doc.just took bloods every week til af arrived.
good luck x
