hi everyone, i have moved over from TTC to LTTC after 2 years TTC our 1st baby
In my despair today I went to see the doctor today about the spotting (red blood) i am having since my MMC in Feb from 7 dpo until AF.
She agreed finally that there may be a problem and has referred me for a scan and to the fertility clinic, but warned that on the NHS, it may be a long wait, though i should hear when my appointment is within 4-5 weeks.
Fingers crossed for some answers.

Can anyone help me with their experience of how long I am likely to be waiting
I am 31, OH is 35 and initial blood tests and sperm count have come back normal although OH sperm motility is 30% and they would have liked it to be higher.

thanks in advance
xxxx

I was initially referred to NHS Assisted Conception Services in April this year. I had my first appointment in August 2011. At the appointment they told us our entitlement and wait tim. We were due to get IUI August 2012 (3 rounds), then 2 rounds of IVF from April 2013 which would start around 2 months later as April 2013 is when we would reach the top of the list not when we would actually start procedures. At the first appointment, they were happy with all results and wanted my tubes checked. Turns out my right tube is blocked so now we're only entitled to the IVF. Luckily I knew about Napro so we're doing that in the mean time. The first page of my journal explains about it- its not just charting as some people believe. Good luck x

My dh and I were referred mid December and we have got our first appointment on 25th jan- this will be to discuss what we have been doing and set up further tests. I have had ultrasound and tubes and uterus appeared normal. I am doing day 21 progesterone tests this month. My periods are normally between 29-33 days apart from 1 cycle this year which was 3 months long! My dh had sa done. His motility came back low at 26% total count 22mill in 3ml. Morphology I think was 10 or9%. I will update once I know times. However over phone I was advised that treatment could start within 3 months of first appointment so hopefully before sumner. I am attending fertility clinc in queen Elizabeth Gateshead. From my understanding wait times are different depending on which pct you are in. Best thing is to phone the ones in your area and ask your doctor to refer you to the one you want! Good luck!

If you go on the HFEA website (thinks its hfea.gov.uk) it has the waiting list for most of the fertility clinics and will give u an idea of referral waiting times.

Hope this helps xx

Hi hun

My transabdominal and transvaginal scan appointment came about 2 weeks after my referral. Hubby on the other hand has to wait 6 weeks for sperm analysis what a joke!!

Our PCT has a policy that from GP referral you are always seen within 18 weeks, I think I waited about 8 weeks.

I had my first NHS consult in June, then bloods, HSG etc. I was referred for IVF in November and as I had previously been a private patient at the clinic I started treatment just a day or two later.

thank you ever so much for replying everyone, it is much appreciated

As sparkle pointed out, on the hfea website there is this paragraph about NHS waiting times.

Waiting lists - If you are eligible for NHS funding, you may have to wait for treatment as NHS waiting list times can vary.
Many NHS clinics in England now work to an ‘eighteen week policy’ which means that you should be ready to start fertility treatment within eighteen weeks of your GP referring you to the fertility clinic.

Hmm good idea Ducktales... Might give it another week then call them just to check xx

Just wanted to jump in with my referral timings :)
GP referred us 18th November '11 and our first appointment was 8th December '11. So very quick.

I had looked at the NHS website for waiting times for a rough guide and the Fertility Centre I chose had the longest waiting times in my area. I was prepared for a long wait - I've had plenty of practice waiting for AF.

Hopingitwill - I'm in Ncle and under treatment at CFL :) x

Oooh spoke too soon!!Got my letter this morning

26th Jan - swabs
30th Jan - results and referal
13th Feb - referal letter
21st March - first available appointment

so 2 months between referal and appointment :)
