Hi I'm starting my second cycle of clomid today ,

Anyway,I had a tracking scan and trigger shot this last cycle ( but all done at wrong times thanks to a mistake made by my clinic ) and was told although i was having six months tracking and trigger shot n dec before i started ,that id now only be getting the one month tracking and trigger  .

Iv been told i can do the tracking and trigger privately ( scans by clinic and trigger by me as its cheaper for me to do that ) but i cant really afford more than one scan ( moving house and own business so money is tight at the moment, as it is for most people ).

So question is. if your on clomid and having tracking can you get away with one scan ??.I was thinking this month and others i have ovulated i do it on day 13 or 14, so if i book a scan for day 12 i can get a good idea of what i have ( follicles and so on ) and calculate based on the size when to do my shot.As i really cant do more than one scan and really dont want to do this without the trigger as my clinic are fully aware my cycles go wrong to often and i just dont ovulate ( pcos ,low AMH )and dont want to waste my clomid cycles,But thanks to NHS i dont qualify for any more help.

What do you think ,i think its better to have one scan at least as then i know iv hopefully responded to clomid and can get a better chance of doing this than being left to do it on my own but would like to know how many scans most people have ?

Hi,

I've never taken Clomid so can't help but you might be better posting in the LTTTC section as I think there are a few Clomid threads on there.

I have 3 scans usually, although as they've learned my cycles this has decreased - this cycle I had one scan and pretty much mapped out from then when I was going to trigger, then had a second one on 'trigger day' just to confirm I should go ahead.

So yes, i would have at least one scan so you have an idea of your response. The problem will be if you only have medium-sized follies on your scan so it's more difficult to judge when to trigger. Hopefully though if you know roughly when you ovulate you can time your single scan to get the most info.

Or maybe you could do 3 cycles with 2 scans instead of 6 with 1?

I'm SUPPOSE to have 2 scans... initially CD2-3 to make sure I've not developed any cysts (first 2 cycles only)- then another scan mid-cycle to see how my follicles responded to the Clomid. Unfortunately, I've not been able to have the mid-cycle scan yet. The first month I got sick and had to reschedule, then I ovulated so we just did the IUI that day. The next cycle I Ovulated a day early and just did the IUI- as the doc said it would be a bit late to really see anything on the scan and didn't want us to waste our money.

But, if it didn't work this cycle- then next cycle I'll for sure go in for a mid-cycle scan. I'd really love to know what's going on in there! LOL. Seems that would be the more important part to me. That way you know how many follies you have and how big there are and how thick your uterine lining is. All good information to have :)

Best of luck to you hun!!!!
