Ok so I have had a few losses and am currently 13 weeks pregnant, my best friend at home in the UK was 8 weeks pregnant before I told her about me and about 10 weeks she had a loss of symptoms and knew that something was off... and it turned out she had a blighted ovum... she had another positive test for about a week 3 weeks ago and then had a m/c she has already had 3 normal m/cs and she has 2 boys. She has been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic in Edinburgh but has been told it will be Feb 2011 before she has an appointment.

I have told her to go to her GP and get lots of bloods taken so that if something comes up that is off then at least she can get a head start on trying to fix something...does anyone have a list of blood work that she should be getting so I can tell her what to ask for when she sees her GP.

I just feel so bad for her as initially we were both very excited that we were going to be pregnant together although we are an opposite sides of the world... I know she is happy for me that everything is going ok and I am trying not to mention anything to much to her when we talk.

Any suggestions or advice would be really appreciated.

I am really sorry I have no clue but I did not want to read and run.

Hi Goddess

Here is the Miscarriage Associations leaflet - it explains all the tests they do:

Hiya, the recurrent miscarriage thread on here has some tips and links, but to be honest I'd avoid raising the matter of tests etc. with her - how much reading up / research on tests to do and which ones to have are a very personal decision and lots of information is easily available if she wants to find it. Some people prefer just to go along to the clinic, others want to read all they can.

Otherwise I'd just try to stay in touch with her in general.
