Hi, My son is 15 weeks old. I was fully breastfeeding him up untill a couple of weeks ago but my milk doesnt seem to be filling him up any more. :-(

My health visitor advised me to try him with formula milk to top him up. He has taken to formula milk like a duck to water, lol. He is a very hungry baby too.

I am just a bit confused about correct way to make up the bottles. First i started to do them as he needed them but it takes too long and he gets very unsettled. I have read that lots of you make up several bottles in one go.

May sound silly but was wondering if it is ok to boil water and put it into bottle and then store it in fridge or bag (if out for day) then reheat it when needed then add powder? or should i boil water and add powder straight away then store it in fridge or bag then reheat when needed?
Also if i go out for day and make up some bottles, how long can they be stored for out of fridge before they need to be used?

Hope this makes sense. I would be really greatfull for any help. Many thanks x

I think it is ok to boil water and store it but don't make up a feed and store it. Once you have made it up, let baby take what they need and despose of the rest. That's what my HV told me with Aidan but guidlines are changing all the time I would check with your health visitor
xx

i had the same problem especially night feeds, if you do make up 1 or 2 in advance, boil kettle, leave for 15 mins (not 30 as recomended as the water isnt always at 70 degrees to kill the bacteria, i use a water thermometer if im not sure) add the milk and mix and cool quickly as poss and store in the fridge at no more than 5 degrees (i use a fridge thermometer and keep a saucepan of water in the fridge for faster cooling) and to doubly make sure they are cold enough i leave them in the pan of cold water in the fridge and just pop in microwave for 5-10 seconds a time until its warm enough (i always stir thouroughly so there are no hotspots) or you could stand in pot of boiling water x
