Hi

I was just looking for bit of advice. we have been trying to conceive no.1 for just over two years not even a whiff of a BFP. I ve had bloods done normal, HSG normal. DH has had SA x3 we have seen doctor at fertility clinic and were told that my Dh SA motility is slightly lower than "normal" but were told men have conceived with the same motility. Sorry but I cant remember the actual numbers.

We were told to return in 4 months (NHS!!) after my HSG.We were told if we don't concieve then the only thing we could try would be IVF. We were told there were no drugs that could be given. We are now due to go back on 7/3/11.

I just keep reading about clomid- I know I ovulate but have read it can help ?inprove ovulation not sure of thats right. Is it worth discussing this with the doctor. I just think its abit drastic (even though we have been trying two years) going straight to IVF. I struggle to understand all this at times just wonder if any of yu have any advice or simialr experience.

If all tests are normal ... IVF seems rather extreme. Most doctors recommend either Clomid/Femara (pills) for at least a couple months. (I prefer Femara). Then if that fails they would reccommend IUI (possibly with injectibles). Are there any other fertility doctors you could go to for a 2nd opinion. That doctor doesn't seem to have compassion.

Good luck to you!! I'm sorry you had to go through that!

That doesn't seem right to me either. I would think that they should atleast consider trying iui beforesending you for ivf. If motility is the problem then with iui the "bad" ones would be washed out at the best ones put right next to the fallopian tube. I would definetly get a second opinion!

I am with the other ladies- that seems a bit extreme to me to jump straight to IVF when there are less invasive measures available. I would try and push for Clomid/IUI before going there! Best of luck my dear! :hugs:

thanks for your replies- im going to discuss it all with dr- there were maybe other reasons why she suggested ivf- maybe age? im 34 dh is 35. anyway will do whatever it takes to get our bfp. good luck to you all xx

I am turning 33 and my husband is 36 ... You are still young :) :) :) Good luck!! I hope she gives you more options.

Gosh Im suprised IVF has been suggested at this stage. Ive been trying for nearly 4 years and only now have we got onto ICSI route. Had loads of tests and tried Clomid for 6 months before it was even recommended.

Clomid is often prescribed even if ladies ovulate normally to give you better chance of more eggs being released.

Hope you get some clarity when discussing the dr and best of luck with your quest to have a lil bubba :) xxx
