Hi ladies, just a quick question.
I had my lap & dye last Friday and have noticed over the last few days I get an aching sensation in my lower belly when I pee. I've got my period and it's a little heavier than normal, which I was expecting, but I'm a bit concerned about this pee pain. Do you think I should see a doctor or is this a normal after effect of the lap??

I had mine yesterday and i get an ache in my stomach kind of weird achey pain when i pee
How are you feeling 5 days past op?x

I felt that too but not that long after surgery but I say better safe then sorry about seeing the doc.

I saw a doctor a week after l&d only to get signed off work for a further week. I was emotionally exhausted (plus job is quite physical). I remember pulling from inside where my belly button is and pains here and there. x

I feel fine!! It's still a little uncomfortable to do certain things and the pee pain has gone but I've told work I can go back tomorrow if they need me. I'll just make sure that I don't overdo it, no heavy lifting or climbing on things (I work in a bar so lifting empty barrels and climbing to get to bottles out of my reach are pretty much day to day thing) and then it's up to them if they want me to come in or not. My main gripe at the minute is my stitches are SOOOOOO itchy!!!! It's driving me mad! Lol

Aw bless u!
My stitches are stingy in my belly button incision i have to change the dressing tomorrow ouch!
Back to work already you are a strong lady lol! Make sure you do minimal work! Xx

Work's decided they don't want me back till next week - yay!
Dressing changing shouldn't hurt, but I was almost sick trying to get the dried blood off it! Just dabbed it with some cotton wool that I'd soaked in warm soapy water so it didn't sting or anything but eurgh!!
I did have fun sending pics of it to my workmates though!!

eeeew not looking forward to cleaning it- I am literally just going to change it and clean it after the 7 days is up as I have to take the new dressing off 4 days later...

Yay for not going back to work! Im in a bit of pain today  not good! But nothing major I am sure it could be worse!
x

I was pretty useless for the first 3 days but then I woke up on Day 4 and felt quite good and just kept on improving. I was battling a cold and :witch: as well as recovering from the lap so to be honest I'm quite surprised I'm up and about so soon. Tried to run for the ferry earlier but stopped that pretty quick!!!
Cleaned out the belly button again today - bleurgh!!! Bit concerned as I'm almost certain the stuff that came out had a green tinge but I may have been imagining it so I'm going to keep an eye on it over the weekend and see a doc on Monday if I need to. How're you getting on today?

I finally managed to go, it has eased the pain abit now! TMI sorry!
I changed my dressings today two are fine but the belly button one looks like it is bleeding still abit- I phoned the ward and they said to use kettle water and cotton wool to clean it- yuk I cannot do that! It makes me feel sick just thinking about it!
Did you have bleeding stilll in yours?

I would definately keep an eye on the colour they said to look out for any smell too...
Oh gosh I would love to be able to run again its so annoying right?!

I want to be better now :( x

All in good time!! Lol.
I didn't even peek under the dressing for 3 days so I don't know how long it bled for but it wasn't pretty when I did!

It is my second day after lap and I still have pain when I pee, is this normal? the nurse at the hospital told me they did not insert a catheter during the operation but it feels like they did and they scratched it or smth. shall I go and see GP?

when do you take off the bandage? I was told to keep it for a couple of days so am going to take it off tomorrow, quite scared to see smth unpleasant.

i had pain when i peed for a few days after the op, they do a lot of digging around when in there.
re the dressings, they say to keep them dry for at least 5 days. change them if the wounds have been weeping. i got some waterproof ones from the chemist which meant i could have a quick shower.

Thank you! so you did not have to take antibiotics then? I was thinking that it could be smth like cystitis?

did you have dissolvable stitches? they told me I can take off the bandage and have a shower normally but i cant take up the carriage to do that yet.

Hi ladies,

Had my lap & dye yesterday (17th April), provisionally everything was clear but they did a biopsy & wont get results until follow up in May. Have glue sticking my wounds together, instead of dissolvable stiches & they're not covered with dressings either!

It's slightly painful when I try to bend down i.e to feed the cats & last night had shoulder pain & tummy pain when trying to sleep on my side. Was told by hospital not to shower or bathe for a few days & to take things easy.

Was planning to go back to work next week as I'm a adult tutor/trainer & have deadlines to meet. Checked work emails & they already want an update on my students..think that is out of order as I'm on annual leave to recover. :growlmad:

TMI..my bowels have shut down & I need a number 2 since yesterday:blush:

my shoulder pain seems to have gone, huge relief, it was kind of unbearable. Peeing is still a bit of a struggle but at least it is not as painful as yesterday. some progress I suppose. They told me that i will receive a letter with my next appointment to discuss the results and biopsy. I managed to have a quick shower yesterday but i was very careful not to get the stitches wet (I have not removed the bandage yet). Still have abdominal pain but mainly in the stitches area not inside which is logical considering that they did not do anything.

Lexus15, am surprised you are on annual leave, did they not give you a sick leave? I got mine for a week so back to work next monday.

I cant complain about N2, all is working as it should, it is N1 that is causing a bit of a trouble, pain is getting better but still not sure I feel everything properly i.e. whether I am done or not, sorry TMI.

Hi Briss,

I work for a small firm & they don't give sick pay! Means that first week is annual leave & if I need more time off next week, I'll take unpaid sick..not ideal I know!

Good news..did a num 2!:haha: I drank so much water & tea yesterday at the hospital & at home to prevent constipation! I don't know about you but I'm feeling more emotional since L&D..my OH never asked me how I was feeling today & I started crying when he went to make his breakfast I hate being a wuss! To make it worse, he wanted to use my car to go to work..told him to get lost, after he couldn't ask how I was (he said he did but I'm not deaf!):grr:

How is your pain by your wound sites? For whatever reason they only went in under my belly button & on my left hand side, my left side feels tender & has a pulling sensation when I stand up etc.

:hugs:

congrats on N2, that's very important! I remember I had an op some years ago and could not do N2 for days, the hospital (I was staying at the hospital for weeks after I had a tumour removed) raised an alarm :) they had to force it otherwise it could lead to intoxication

I am surprisingly emotionally sort of stable apart from the fact that i am freaking out whether to BD now or not. It looks like lap may have triggered my ovulation, my temp is up and CBFM shows "high" second day today, I should be BDing now really but still not 100% comfortable.

Men are strange creatures, my DH stayed at home for 2 days (even though he does not have paid annual leave) but I have a feeling it was not for my sake but he just fancied a little break and used it as an excuse... oh well, cant be bothered to get mad at him, need to get myself into shape for BD tonight

stitches hurt like hell actually, and a bit on the right side (that's where they were looking for the cyst) I also feel like it might be an ovulation pain, very confused

Briss, if your going to dtd tonight make sure to tell hubby to take it gentle with you, gd luck!.x

i didn't have antibiotics briss, things went back to normal after a few days. the gas pain was the worst for me.
my stitches were disolvable with butterflies over the top, than dressings. my scars still look quite fresh 4 weeks on. soooo glad i had, crap that my 6 weeks follow up is scheduled for 13 weeks! pox hospital! !
